Where are they going?!

“It’s just difficult, Cale,” Summer murmured, her eyes still not quite meeting mine.

“You loved him. You cried formonths. He’s back, looking hotter than ever, if I say so myself,” I chuckled as she grimaced, pushing past me.

“I can’t explain it. You wouldn’t understand.”

I grabbed her hand as she walked past me, my eyes meeting hers. She was my twin, and I worried about her, especially when she went all weird on me like this. “Summer. Try me.”

She shook her head, smiling sadly.

“It’s fine. Thanks, though.”

I wondered what was going on. I had a feeling it must be Jett. If she was seeing him, Christian didn’t stand a chance. Bad boy and all that shit.

Gabe was coming over to watch the boxing match later with Dad and me, and I needed to get some food and beers.

I’ll worry about Summer later.

It was about eight when Christian arrived, looking all smart and eager. Gabe frowned at him as I introduced him.

“This is Christian, Summer’s long-lost love.” I rolled my eyes as Gabe stiffened, his eyes narrowing at Christian.

Did he really still have a crush on my sister?

“Hopefully not lost for much longer, boys. Wish me luck.” Christian winked as Summer walked in, a loose white shirt wrapped around her waist, denim ripped jeans, and Converse trainers.

“You look beautiful, Summer,” Christian murmured, openly drinking her in.

It was fucking uncomfortable.

But Summer didn’t reply, her eyes on Gabe. “I didn’t know you were going to be here,” she stammered as Gabe nodded, his jaw tight.

“Yup.”

Dad looked from Gabe to Christian and ran his hands through his hair.

“Do you guys want a drink here instead? I know you want to catch up, as friends, but we could all watch the match?”

Had he lost his fucking mind?

Christian was here for Summer, not to watch a match with us.

“Cal, I’d love to, but I want her all to myself tonight.” Christian smiled, and Dad nodded, staring at Summer.

Everyone’s turned into fucking robots.

Dad loved Christian, despite the heartache Summer went through when he moved away. Why would he not be encouraging this?

“Have fun, love-birds,” I drawled as I turned back to the TV, bored already. I knew Summer would be safe with Christian, and she would probably end up marrying him. She needed to stop with the Jett bullshit. They must’ve left because I heard the front door slam.

“Fuck this,” muttered Gabe, slamming his bottle onto the table as I looked at him in surprise.

“Fuck what? What’s wrong with you?” I demanded as I looked to Dad for back up. He was smiling to himself as he shook his head.

Gabe stomped out of the front door as I got up, my Dad’s words stopping me.

“Before you go out there, I want you to remember something. You can’t help who you fall in love with.”
