Of all the fucking times...

“Caleb. I called you last night.”

Sasha.

I exhaled as I continued walking, not before I caught the disappointment in Jade’s eyes as she quickly glanced away.

I’ll be damned.

“Yeah, sorry, I was busy.”

Sasha slid her arm through mine, smiling coyly at me. “When are you not? A girl has needs, you know.” She trailed her fingers down my arm as she spoke, her fingers suddenly lacing with mine.

Erm, nope.

“I’ll call you.” I flashed her a brief smile as her face dropped in disappointment.

I shrugged as she glared at me before storming off.

Why was it you could be as honest as possible with these girls, and they’d be all accepting and shit until you’d done the deed so fucking well they decided they wanted more? Fucking annoying.

“Yo, wait up.” Gabe jogged up beside me. His thumb jutted toward Sasha, looking at me quizzically. “She knows it’s casual, right?”

I groaned as I reached my locker, fumbling with the combination. “Well, I told her as much before anything happened. But I bet you a million dollars she can’t recall that conversation.”

He chuckled as he shook his head.

“Why are we both dealing with girls we don’t even fucking like that much? Maybe we need to find ourselves a bit of fresh meat,” I wondered aloud as he raised his eyebrows, about to argue that he did actually like Kennedy. I put my hand up before he could protest and shook my head.

“No, you don’t. You just don’t know how to say no.”

“Says you,” he retorted as we walked towards our homeroom.

“See how you didn’t deny it, though?” I pointed out as he sighed.

“You know what I found at her house last night? Wedding brochures.” He stared at the floor glumly, and I laughed.

“I’m sorry, dude, but there’s so much wrong with that sentence.”

Gabe scowled as we sat down, my eyes falling on Jade, who was unaware most eyes were on her. She leaned back against the wall, and her head tilted to the side as she listened to whatever my twin was saying before her face broke out into a beautiful smile.

“Jade Chung. Unobtainable. That’s why she’s so fucking high on your list. Don’t mistake that for something else.”

I heard Gabe say as he yawned beside me, stretching his arms up as he let out a slight roar, causing most people to stop and stare.

“What? I’m fucking tired!” he exclaimed.

“You’refucking tired? Try being me. My dad woke me up before seven today by dragging me out of bed.”

Gabe burst out laughing, shaking his head.

“My family is so fucked up. So, last night I had to drag some boy out of Alice’s room as they were making out—”

“What?!” His eyes widened in alarm as I nodded.

“Yeah. Then she gives me shit, but then Dad finds out, and she’s now under lock and key for the rest of her life. Then Summer left her phone in my car, and some prick calls her—”

“Who?” Gabe demanded, his blue eyes narrowed into slits.
