I circle her clit with one of my fingers. “Now wouldn’t that be timing.”
“Just let me answer it.”
“Fine, but I’m not stopping.” Probably should, I still have the rest of the glass to clean up, and I have things I need to go over with Brent. Busy, busy. But Morgan.
Turning in my hold, she reaches for her phone on the table. She answers. I’m about to thrust one of my fingers inside her when she goes still.
“Morgan?”
She doesn’t reply. I remove my hand and turn her to face me. She’s gone pale, phone still pressed to her ear. I grab it, but whoever it was hung up.
I try again. “Morgan?”
“He, ah.” She’s starting to panic.
“Morgan, who? Talk to me. He who?”
“Ethan.”
He is as good as fucking dead.
“He said… Oh god, Rhys.” Her breaths are uneven.
Holding her, I whisper, “You’re safe. Tell me Princess, what did he say?”
“Count your days, Morgan Elliot.” Then I feel her body shake as she starts to cry.
I take a step back, place a finger under her chin, and lift her head until her red-rimmed eyes are looking up at me.
“Hey, he isn’t going to find you here.”
“How do you know?” Tears continue to silently fall down her cheeks.
I swipe my thumb over her cheeks, wiping the tears away. “Because I’m always right.”
That gets me an eyeroll, “No, you’re not.”
“Yes, I am”
“Name a time.”
“When I said you’re not broken.” I know her response before she even says it.
“But I am.”
I will fight her on this always, until she starts to believe it. “But you’re not. Okay fine, I was right about youpicking weird names for the animals you seem to be collecting.”
“You didn’t say anything about the animals having weird names?”
I pretend to ponder, putting a finger to my chin, look off into the distance and hum. “Ha, must have said it in my head.” I finish with a shrug and go back to looking at her.
A smile breaks over her face, and then she starts to laugh. “How did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Make me laugh instead of panic.”
Oh, I’m not even sure.“Ah, because I’m awesome.” Then I put a little distance between us and run my hands over my body, showcasing myself.
