She wraps her arms around me and pulls me down to her. “The best kind.”
“How do you know?”
She kisses one of my cheeks. “Because you have me.” She kisses the other. “And we will learn together.” A kiss lands on my forehead. “But not for a while. Let’s just be you and me for a little bit.” Her lips ghost past mine, teasing a kiss. “I want us to have the best start we can get.”
“Sounds perfect.” I kiss her forehead and tell her I’ll be back.
I walk out of her room naked as Shane walks in the front door.
“Jesus fucking Christ.” He covers his eyes and steps backoutside as I step back into the room. Morgan throws me my pants.
“Forget something?” she laughs.
“Yeah, Shane just saw me.”
She laughs harder. Glad she got a laugh out of it; I’m expecting another brawl.
When I step back out, I shout out that I have clothes on.
Shane comes back in, eyes still closed. Opening one eye at a time, he looks at me in disgust.
“What?”
“You’re having sex with my sister, every fibre of my being is telling me to kick your ass.”
“I thought we got past that?”
“We very much did not.” He walks past me and into the kitchen.
I walk behind him. “Okay, well let me get a couple things for Morgan, and then we can fight again.” When I get to the kitchen, I find a glass from the cupboard, fill it with water, then find a clean cloth and turn the tap to hot. Shane follows every move closely.
I do my best to ignore him. When I get back to Morgan, I pass her the water and help clean her off.
“I’ll be back. I think Shane wants to fight again.” I tell her so matter-of-factly, then kiss her forehead and leave to face my best friend.
Again.
MORGAN
I watch as Rhys leave my room. What did he just say?
I throw on some clothes. And on shaky legs, thank you Rhys… okay the last one was all me but still, I get out there to stop another fight. But when I get there, they aren’t fighting.
“Shane, I love her. She loves me, you have to find a way to be okay with this.”
I peek around the corner. Shane is glaring at Rhys; but it doesn’t seem to be completely filled with hate.
Making my appearance known, I hug Rhys from behind, plant a quick kiss between his shoulder blades, and move to stand next to him so I can tell Shane. “I love him, I’m going to move back west with him, I want you to be happy for us.”
He looks at me. “I am happy for you, but him?” He goes back to glaring at Rhys.
“Oh my god, grow up, you sent me to him! What did you think was going to happen?”
“Not this!” he bellows, and Rhys moves so I am behind him, a move Shane does not miss. “Oh fuck off, I would never hurt my sister.”
“Shane, please. I know it’s hard for you, but it’s happened.” I tell him as I try to look at him around Rhys.
Shane looks at me and nods. “I said I’ll try being okay with it, for you. Not for him.”
