He doesn’t reply just gives me a cocky look that I know not to question.
“If I can’t come solo, you guys can’t either.”
“Only want to in or on you,” Caveman Maverick states.
I’m barely able to contain my eye roll. But I do wave goodbye and once again climb into Landon's car, driving home.
I sneak back into my room through the window I left open and move the dresser out of the way.
“Letty?”
“Landon?”
“Can I come in?”
“Um, yeah fine.”
I look behind him and I see my mum looking at us sceptically.
Landon closes the door in my mum’s face and that makes me smile up at him.
I step back giving him enough room to walk into my room completely. But he places his hand on my hip and pulls me to him. I can feel how hard he is. He leans down to kiss me, but I turn my head and he gets my cheek.
“Come on Letty what the hell?”
“I’m mad at you”.
“What, why?”
“You know why!”
“I couldn’t ignore the call.” He punctuates his statement by throwing his hand behind him towards the door.
“Okay you might have a point there.” She would have kept calling him.
Leaning up on my toes I gently kiss his cheek. It’s a simple move, a simple gesture but from the look on his face, it means more than that.
“Violet.”
“Oh no this sounds serious.”
“No, um, yes, no, maybe.” He rubs his hand along the back of his neck.
I take a step back, hurt flashes over his face but as quickly as it’s there it’s gone.
“What did you do?”
“How do you know I did anything?”
“Have you forgotten how long we’ve been in each other’s lives? I know you as well as you know me.”
And as if my point has been made, he starts pacing.
“Look, I, we, the guys and I...”
He stops to look at me and a sudden heavy feeling settles in my stomach.
“Oh, you guys don’t want to continue, no that’s fine.”
