"I know."

I stared at him. "You do? How?"

"When you stopped wearing them, I didn't see any contacts. And Iknewyou couldn’t have had Lasikthatfast."

"Boy, aren'tyouobservant?" And now I felt all embarrassed. "You must've thought I was a total idiot."

"No, I thought you were adorable." He smiled. "Most girls try to playuptheir beauty. Never saw one play itdownbefore." His gaze warmed as he reached for my hand. "But you know what?"

"What?"

"I love both of you – the nerdy oneandthe sexy one. The wayIsee it, I get two for the price of one."

I laughed at the logic. "Me, too. I've got DrakeandMurphy. And you know what?"

"What?"

"I'm crazy about both."

Chapter 53

Drake

We'd just finished getting dressed when Gwen gave a little gasp. "Oh, my God. I just remembered something."

"What's that?"

"Harper's car, it wasn't around yesterday either, but we both saw her. So maybe sheishome." Gwen covered her mouth with both hands. "What if she heard us?"

I wasn't likingthatthought. Even though we'd shut the bedroom door, it's not like we'd been quiet about it.Call me old-fashioned, but I preferred to keep our love-making private.

At the look on my face, Gwen clarified, "Just so you know, I don't mean what if she heard us come into the house. Imean, what if she heard us…" She glanced toward the bed."Youknow."

Ididknow. If Harper were anywhere within earshot, she would have heard plenty. In better news, I hadn't heard any footsteps on the stairs, and Gwen's bedroom was located down a back hallway.

When I mentioned all of this to Gwen, she looked only slightly relieved. "I'd just hate to bethatperson. You know?"

She meant her mom, obviously. I smiled. "Yeah, but you'renotthat person, and besides, your cousin could still be gone."

Gwen straightened. "You know what? I'm gonna go check." She smiled. "And if Harperishere, I'm gonna tell her right away."

I laughed. "That we had make-up sex?"

She rolled her eyes. "No. That we're together. I mean, that's what brought us here in the first place, wasn't it?"

"Speak for yourself," I teased. "I was just hoping to get lucky."

Gwen snickered. "Yeah, well you'realreadylucky." She gave a playful toss of her hair. "You've gotme."

I loved seeing her like this, all happy and wanton. With a grin, I replied, "Got that right."

"Hang on," she said. "I'm gonna go knock on her bedroom door. If things go okay, maybe we can all sit down for a visit."

Knowing Harper, the odds of it going well were slim at best. But I loved Gwen for the effort, so I gave her a smile and told her to take as long as she needed to give Harper the bad news.

Bad for Harper.

Good for me.
