What the hell?"Who slapped who?"
"Does it matter?" He was still grinning. "Man, I would've loved to seethat."
Not me.
Not with Cami involved.
Under my breath, I said, "That makesoneof us."
Chase reached up to stroke his chin. "That Cami, she's pretty hot, huh?"
I felt my body go rigid. "What?"
"I'm just saying, she's got that girl-next-door look."
I'd noticed. But the fact that Chase had noticed, too, well, I didn't like it. I said, "How wouldyouknow?"
"I met her at the coffee shop."
I stared across the desk.So she'd had coffee with my brother?
And no one had thought to mention it?
In a tight voice, I asked, "And when was this?"
"A couple days ago." Again, Chase leaned forward. "So, she's a real spitfire, huh?"
Cami the Nanny? She wassomething. I just didn't know what.
I told Chase, "She's the nanny, not a notch in your bedpost."
"Well, not yet."
I felt my fingers tighten into fists. "Look, you've fucked two already. Isn't that enough?"
"Hey, don’t blameme," he laughed. "Theyoffered."
Cami wouldn't offer.
Would she?
No.
And yet, I silently asked myself, "What if she did?"
The thought bothered me more than it should've. Andthatbothered me, too.
Fuck. These days, everything bothered me. And the lack of sleep wasn't helping.
I stood. "Are we done?"
Chase remained sitting. "Why? You in a hurry?"
Oh, yeah.
I wasnow.
I needed answers, and I knew just where to get them. And it wasn't here at the office.
