“Bri.” At the sound of her name from Adley’s lips, she stopped in her tracks and her eyes met Adley’s. “I’m fine. I promise. Don’t worry so much.” Sabrina gave another nod. “And thank you. For helping me with this.” She held up her bandaged finger and wiggled it. “See? Still works.”
“Good.” And they stood there for a beat, just looking at each other, and that subtle electric sizzle that was always there between them seemed to kick up several volts. “I’ll be back.”
Chapter Twenty-five
“Oh. My. God.” Sabrina turned the lock to the back door, locking it after the last employee headed home. Then she spun to face Adley and punched her arms up into the air. “Oh my God! We did it!”
“That was amazing!” Adley said, throwing up her own arms, and they danced around in a circle before collapsing into each other.
Man, nothing sobered Adley up like being so close to Sabrina, and usually she fought internally with herself to keep a healthy distance between them. But this? This was special. This was a celebration, and being in Sabrina’s arms felt exactly right.
“We did it!” Sabrina said again. “No bumps. Without a hitch. And we raked in the sales. I am so happy!” They hopped around in a circle like two happy kids, and it seemed like Sabrina didn’t even give it a second thought when she pushed up on her toes and kissed Adley on the mouth. It was quick. Not much more than a peck, but it froze both of them. Like statues. Sabrina’s blue eyes went from wide surprise to heavy-lidded in a split second. Adley watched it happen, and it was sexy as hell.
“We, um, probably shouldn’t.” Adley cleared her throat. “You know?”
Sabrina nodded and made zero attempts at removing herself from Adley’s arms. “Yeah. It’s probably a really bad idea.”
Adley stood there, looking into those eyes, and Sabrina stared back at her. Adley’s gaze dropped, and Sabrina’s lips were glossy and full, and Adley couldn’t pull her eyes away and then all her control just melted. Vanished. She couldn’t stop herself. It wasn’t possible. Sheleaned forward and kissed Sabrina again. Not a peck this time.Sonot a peck.
They kissed like their lives depended on it. They kissed like they hadn’t kissed another human being in years. They kissed like they couldn’t get enough of each other. Lips and tongues worked overtime. Hands came into play. Adley couldn’t touch Sabrina enough. She wanted all of her. Every inch. Every single inch. Without even thinking about it, she tugged Sabrina into the small office and pushed her against the desk, then kissed her some more.
The entire shop was quiet, the only sounds those of ragged breathing and smacking lips. Adley unfastened Sabrina’s pants, quickly pushed them down to her ankles, and then helped lift her so she sat on the desk. Adley pushed her knees apart so she had room to stand, and she pulled Sabrina’s body as close to hers as she could.
And they kissed.
There was nothing in the world sexier, nothing more exciting than kissing Sabrina James. Adley had figured that out the very first time they’d done so, in the ladies’ room of Martini’s more than a year ago. Part of her wondered if it had just been a fluke, a result of the situation, of the clandestine sexiness of it, but now she knew it hadn’t been that. It was Sabrina. She and Adley were meant to be kissing. Adley was sure of it.
But she wanted more, and she wanted it right here in their shop, and she didn’t care that it was impractical or hurried or whatever else it might be, because it was also fucking sexy and Sabrina seemed to think so, too. Sabrina parted her legs farther, as if anticipating Adley’s next move, which, of course, was to push Sabrina’s underwear aside and swipe her fingers through the wetness there.
God, so much wetness.
She must’ve made a sound because Sabrina whispered, “It’s all you. That’s all you.”
And then Adley pushed into her. Not gently. This wasn’t about gentle. It was about pairing. It was about lost time. It was about claim. And while she didn’t say the words, didn’t even let herself dwell on them in her own mind, she knew they were true. Without a shadow of a doubt, she knew they were true.
Sabrina was hers. Always.
Fingers gripped her shoulders, and Sabrina threw her head back, allowing Adley to nuzzle that spot where her neck and shoulder met as she pushed in and out of her. She withdrew and focused on the hot, wet folds of flesh, stroking and caressing, and it didn’t take more than a couple minutes before Sabrina whispered her name and Sabrina’s whole body tensed, spasmed, and she tightened her grip on Adley as a low hum issued from deep in her throat.
As Sabrina’s body began to slowly relax, Adley dropped her forehead to Sabrina’s shoulder, kept her fingers pressed to the hot, wet flesh between her legs, and let herself bask in the beauty that was Sabrina.
“We probably shouldn’t have done that,” she whispered, then looked up into Sabrina’s eyes and grinned.
“Nope. Definitely shouldn’t have.”
There was a beat of silence, and then they both burst out laughing. Not just laughing. Cracking the hell up. They were living, breathing laughing emoji, tears leaking from their eyes, snorts coming from noses, stomachs hurting from so much.
Adley pushed a lock of blond hair behind Sabrina’s ear and touched her forehead to Sabrina’s. “What are we gonna do about us?”
“Well,” Sabrina said, “I think you should make us a Decadence sundae to share, and we can talk about it while we eat. Yeah?”
“I like that idea.” But Adley didn’t move. Not right away. Instead, she took the moment and gazed into those blue eyes, studied the exact shade of blue, noted the black circle around the irises that made that blue pop. She slowly removed her fingers from where they were still tucked inside Sabrina’s panties. And then she kissed her. Slowly. Softly. Smiled at her. Then headed out to the kitchen.

Sabrina watched Adley head out to make them a sundae, and she could feel her own pulse still pounding between her legs. She hadn’t expected that, for Adley to fuck her on her own desk. Not that she hadn’t fantasized about exactly that, because she totally had. Many times. Many, many times. She could admit now that she’d totally underestimated how sexually frustrating it would be to have Adley in the very next room all day long. And watching her in herelement—in her white coat in the kitchen, floating around and creating deliciousness, happy and humming to herself—was more of a turn-on than she was prepared for. She clearly hadn’t thought it through, which she was certain she’d hear all about from Teagan when she got home and recounted her evening.
All that being said? She was stupidly happy right now. Like, stupidly. Was that good? It was bad, wasn’t it? Was it? Giving her head a shake, she pulled herself together, fastened her pants, fluffed her hair, and followed Adley into the kitchen, where she had a bowl on the table and a small pan on the stove, warming up some hot fudge.
