This is my man.

“Sorry Sebastián, but as you can see, I’m good right where I am.” I smile smugly.

This infuriates Sebastián, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m enjoying this now. “Amelia, we have unfinished business. We have things to talk about,” he practically spits out.

I feel Evan stiffen behind me, so I put my arm over his right that is holding my center, and brush his hand reassuringly.

“Okay then. Talk. I have no interest in ever being alone with you again,” I say with a little more heat. Time to remind this man that I nearly took away his chances of having kids when I kneed him in the balls.

“Amelia, look. I know I don’t have a leg to stand on, but we need to discuss things. Like the wedding vendors. I wanted you to know that I paid them off, so you don’t have to worry about that anymore.” He lifts his hands as if to sayI come in peace. “And there are other things that have been happening since we last saw each other.” He momentarily looks at Christine who’s too busy ogling Evan.

I fucking dare you bitch.

“At the very least Amelia, we need closure for God’s sake. We can meet tomorrow or next weekend if that works for—”

“Closure?” I laugh. The nerve of this man. “I don’t think a man who imploded his engagement by being balls deep in another woman has the right to requestclosure,” I say that last word with air quotes.

“She’s got a point there,” Evan mutters.

I continue. “The very least you could do is pay for the wedding that you clearly had no intention of honoring with your philandering ways.” I huff. “And just so we’re crystal clear, I have no need to ever see or speak to you again. So don’t call, don’t text or send me weird flowers. You can assume this conversation is the last conversation we’ll ever have. So, you and your closure can go fuck yourselves.” I force a fake smile.

Sebastián’s mouth is wide open and looking at me as if I’m currently experiencing an exorcism.

“So, what do you want for dinner, babe?” Evan chuckles behind me.

I turned to him. “I’m in the mood for some ramen and lychee martins.”

“Perfect, I know just the place.” He grabs both of my cheeks in his hands and plants a soft kiss on my lips, and lingers there for a moment, before finally standing to his full height. “Sebastián, Christine. It has not been a pleasure. You’re actually absolute shit people, and I hope to never make your acquaintance again. Especially you.” He nods to Sebastián.

With that, he takes my hand, and we head out of the party, grinning ear to ear. I have a feeling I’m going to have a lot more than a bowl of noodles in my mouth by the end of tonight.

* * *

“Oh God, Evan, this tastes amazing!” I say as I take another bite of my pork buns. We’ve agreed to not be seen alone in public until after the holidays, but there is no scenario in which I turn down food.

We’re at Momofuku, sitting on the counter stools that face the bustling kitchen. Evan asked the chef for a tasting menu, and I’m sure I’m going to pop out of this dress any second now. I’m on my second lychee martini, but I think my buzz is all because of Evan.

“I can’t believe Nikki texted you. God I love her.” I chuckle into my drink.

“Yeah, at this rate, I should just give her a credit card and let her use it every time she comes through for you.” Evan smirks.

I put my drink down and hold his hand on the counter. “I missed you so much, Evan.” I dreamily sigh.

He offers me a small smile, then brings my hand up to his lips, laying a soft kiss on my knuckles. “Amelia, you have no idea how incredible it is for me to hear those words come out of your mouth. I've dreamed of moments like this.” He leans in and kisses my lips.

Swoon.

“So, I know that I was supposed to come over tomorrow, but since we’re already together, I was thinking—”

“Baby, if you think you’re going anywhere besides my bed tonight, you need to get your head checked.” He chuckles into his drink.

I playfully roll my eyes, then lean in to kiss his neck. God Evan has so many kissable places, and I can’t wait to get back to his place.

We continue to work our way through the delectable dishes, to the point where I think Evan’s going to have to roll me out of this place if I don’t stop.

Then Evan’s phone rings on the counter between us. The lettersLCpop up on the screen.

Evan stiffens and grabs the phone instantly. “Sorry, I have to take this, be back in a minute.” He takes off before I can even respond.
