“Great. Our car will be here shortly and taking us to the airport.”
“Wait, airport? Isn’t Teddy picking us up?”
“Nope. My baby gets to ride on the jet today.” I lean down and kiss her on the nose.
She rolls her eyes. “Okay big shot. Let’s hope your plane is as big as your… other assets. I hate small planes and I will make you pay if there’s turbulence.” She points her index finger at me.
I grin like a mad man.
God, this woman has me by the balls. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Evan’s jet is huge, just like him.
I’m back in my apartment unpacking while smiling at how my life has taken a turn for the unimaginable.
Trial dating has turned into undercover real dating, while we try to take things slow.
Ha. Slow. Trial dating lasted all of two minutes before I became a stage five clinger.
Way to hold out Amelia.
But I can’t complain. I am so enamored by Evan, and I’m glad he’s willing to give me time to figure myself out before we go public.
We plan on having secret dinners at his apartment while we’re staying under the radar. Work is going to be busy this week for the both of us, so we’re playing it by ear. I also have my company holiday party that I’m dreading going to this Friday. I hope I don’t run into Christine, but it’s probably inevitable.
My doorbell rings.
I smile. That’s probably Evan coming back for another goodbye kiss. I practically had to pry him off of me when he walked me up to my apartment.
I open the door and look down to see a vase with a dozen red roses. I instantly smile.
I pick it up, close my door and bring it to my kitchen. I pull out the note.

Love is a beautiful thing.
Sorry if I scared you, the best is yet to come...
Very soon.
Huh. That’s weird.
I text Nikki to meet me in my apartment. She got back from Florida last night.
Ten minutes later she’s banging down my door.
“Oh hey there sex kitten!” she croons as she pulls me in for a hug.
“Nice to see you too. Looks like you didn’t get murdered by a Florida man. So I’m guessing it was a good getaway?” I ask.
“For the love of God Amelia, lay off the Dateline.” Nikki laughs. “It was actually an interesting trip.”
“Interesting?” I pull out two wine glasses and a cold bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
