Dragon’s unusual violet eyes kept darting Cassandra’s way as well.
He’d suspected there was something brewing between Cassandra and one of the men who had been watching over her, and it seemed like Dragon was that man.
“You two?” he asked, nodding over at Dragon.
Cassandra’s cheeks went bright red. “Maybe. I'm not sure. Those guys are hard to get close to, and …”
“What?” Monique asked.
“And I think they’re about to do something stupid. Something they won't be able to come back from,” Cassandra said softly. “Something that might turn them into the monsters they’re afraid they are.”
Before Jax could ask what Cassandra meant by that, Alannah spoke.
“We’d better go inside,” Alannah told them. “While you guys were off slaying dragons to keep us all safe, we cooked up a storm.”
“It’s like a Thanksgiving feast in there, guess we’re a little early this year,” Becca added.
“I helped make dessert,” Essie piped up.
“Then let’s go eat,” Cade said.
As everybody headed inside, Jax kept Monique beside him. This year, he had a lot to be thankful for. Not only did his family finally have the answers they’d needed to move on, but they’d all fallen in love, and he couldn’t wait to see what the future held for all of them.
