I was going to enjoy every fucking minute we had together—because the woman I wanted with every fiber of my being could never really belong to me.

MADISON
Five days passed quickly.
Way too quickly, because they were genuinely the best days I’deverhad.
Bo and I fucked.
Joked.
Competed.
Laughed.
Cuddled, even.
It felt like I was living someone else’s life. On someone else’s planet, even, because Bo Stevenson had never been and would never be interested in me.
But he was.
And the thought of leaving him made my chest hurt a little more every single day.
He didn’t have a problem with it, though. He even checked the snow for me every morning and evening, looking to see if it had melted enough for me to safely make my escape.
A heavy dose of relief hit me every time it hadn’t.
Every time we screwed, I was getting more used to the insane amount of pleasure he gave me. More used to the way he felt inside me, too.
He felt like he belonged there.
Like I belonged on his lap, with his body wrapped around mine. With him claiming me in every moment, using everything but his teeth.
He hadn’t gotten close to biting me yet, but he kissed my throat frequently. Nipped it, too.
The way he was so good at holding back assured me even more that he wasn’t anywhere near interested in making our newfound connection permanent.
We were halfway through a round of COD on day six—or seven?—when I noticed Bo’s screen stop moving.
“You’re supposed to be helping me win,” I grumbled, moving a little on his lap. He’d talked me into playing on his team. His cock was hard beneath me, but that was the norm. Rocking against it like I was always caught his attention, no matter what.
“Just a second.”
When I glanced at his phone, I saw my brother’s name at the top of the screen.
My stomach tightened, and my screen stopped moving too.
I knew Bo texted Artie frequently. I’d seen them messaging most days. Bo had promised not to mention me to the asshole.
“What did he say?” I asked.
“He’s asking if I’ve seen you. The skulk finally reached out to him about you ditching your wedding.”
Crap.
If they were asking Artie, they were worried. Probably furious, too.
