I dug my phone out of the pocket of my trunks and handed it to Makari. “Post it on my page.”
She typed Avi’s birthday, unlocked my phone, and went right to my Skroll app. I grinned when I noticed she hit my DMs and opened my messages. After moving through the most recent ones, she navigated to her phone and dropped the pictures to mine then posted a carousel of the pictures she took.
“What do you want me to post as the caption?”
“Mine and wifey.”
She rolled her eyes but posted exactly what I said, then slid my phone back into my pocket before she went to her phone and posted the one of us on her page with the caption: Mine and hubby.
“You trying to make shit official?”
“I’m trying to match your energy.”
“Aight then, we’re picking rings when we touch down.”
“Wait, that’s not what I’m saying…” She dropped her head back and my eyes locked on hers.
“Thatiswhat you’re saying if you’re matching my energy…”
“He’s saying he wants to marry you, Kari. Just say yes so we can hit these jet skis,” Ryland said. When I lifted my head, they were all watching us. I chuckled and dropped my eyes to Kari. “You matching my energy?”
She grinned and turned against my body, hooking her arms around my neck before she pressed her mouth to mine. “Yeah, I’m matching your energy.”
“You know I’m not bullshitting, we’re picking rings as soon as we get home.”
“Okay.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah nigga, she’s sure. Now can we get back to our regularly scheduled programming? Congratulations. I’m the best man.”
“Wait, you’re serious.” Shiya smiled big as hell and her eyes darted between me and Makari. “Oh shit, if we extend our stay by one day, you can get married here. You have to be on the island for forty-eight hours to apply for the license and then wait forty-eight hours before you can do the ceremony. We’re staying.”
“How the hell you know that?” Dedric glanced at his wife and she rolled her eyes.
“I had a past before you.” She shrugged.
“I know like fuck your past better not include being married in Turks.”
“One marriage beginning and one ending,” Ryland joked.
“Bruh, shut the fuck up.” Dedric cut his eyes at Ryland and Shiya hugged him and lifted onto her toes to calm his big ass down.
“I’ve never been married before you and you know that. Relax. Can we keep this about them? I have a wedding to plan.”
Makari frowned. “No you don’t. We don’t have to do that.”
“You backing out already.”
“No, it’s just… that’s fast.” She lifted her eyes to me.
“Ahh hell, she was just gaslighting your ass, O,” Ryland said, shaking his head.
She laughed. “I am not.”
“Aight, then we’re doing it here.” My eyes locked on hers again and she bit her lip then smiled, nodding.
“I’m down.”
