“Yeah, I know.”
“I’m going to move forward with getting a statement released unless you would prefer I don’t.”
“At this point I don’t care. Do whatever you need to.”
Vanessa nodded and glanced at her phone. “I have a few things to work on. I’ll call you later. I have a facility waiting to take your father in. I’ll send you the details.”
“Don’t send me shit.”
She sighed and looked at me with a silent message to take care of him. “Okay, I’m going to head out.”
He nodded. Vanessa let herself out and Omiri walked into the kitchen, kissed Avi on her head, and leaned against the counter next to where I was standing with my coffee mug. I set it on thecounter and stepped in front of him and Omiri wrapped his arms around me.
I placed my hands on his face, brought it down to mine, and kissed him. “What can I do?”
“This.” He hugged me tighter. I was what he needed, so I let that be enough.
Chapter 22
Omiri
The sound of waves meeting the shore had me peeling my eyes open. The villa we were at was open, with windows everywhere, so our room was bright as hell. But I felt at peace because I could see the ocean and Makari was next to me with her arms and legs draped over my body.
The past week had been crazy as hell with all the press from what went down with my father but eventually things calmed down. Vanessa prepared and released a statement about what happened that night with O’Rion and flipped the story so everyone left me the hell alone. They did the one thing I damn sure didn’t want, hit me with all the sympathy posts, but at least that kept them from running with the story about my father.
There were also people who tried to push the “he has money, we can’t believe what they’re saying” narrative. They really wanted me to be guilty of something but those assholes were in the minority.
Regardless, I pushed all of that out of my head and focused on what mattered. Makari, Avi, and my upcoming season. Needless to say, with everything going on in my life, Makari and I needed this break. My father agreed to stay in rehab for thesix-month program that Vanessa arranged but that was mostly because I threatened to cut him off if he refused.
He was also required to release a statement about his alcohol addiction, noting the grief and anger he was experiencing after losing a son which caused him to blame me. His well-crafted statement, written by Vanessa, summed up his regrettable false accusations that harmed his only living son and made him realize it was time to deal with his trauma.
Rehab wasn’t going to do shit for him. We had been through this too many times before but at least it stopped people from talking about the circulating videos. Training camp started Monday after we got back. For now, I planned on spending my time here enjoying my girls.
I kissed Makari on the shoulder then brushed her hair from her face. She had some long ass braids I took full advantage of while I was fucking her from behind.
“It’s creepy for you to watch me while I’m asleep.”
I chuckled and kissed her shoulder again. “If you were really sleep, then you might have a case.”
She smiled and lifted her head, squinting when the brightness of the room attacked her. “What time is it?”
“Seven.”
She groaned and buried her face in the pillow while she inched closer to me. “I’m going back to sleep.”
“We have to be on the yacht by ten.”
“Okay, still going back to sleep.”
I kissed her forehead then threw the covers off of us. “Nah, if I’m up, you’re up.”
I felt her hand on my dick and she smiled. “Oh you’re definitely up.”
My dick was bricked but that was the norm when I woke up with her next to me. “You better move your hand or that yacht is leaving without us.”
She groaned again and I eased out of bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day. By the time I was done, Makari was dragging out of bed. While she headed to the bathroom, I pulled on a t-shirt and shorts and made my way to the kitchen. Janice sat at the table with Avi, feeding her fresh fruit.
“Good morning, Mr. Hayes.”
