“Word is bond. If you don’t have your word, what do you have?”

“I wish everyone thought like you,” she whispered, scraping her bottom lip with her teeth. A habit I realized she did a lot when she was uncertain or nervous.

Her small breaths brushed over the bottom of my face. My skin prickled with awareness. I wasn’t sure who moved first, but the next thing I knew my mouth was connected to hers. The kiss was a sweetness I’d never tasted before. Her lips tasted like the watermelon gloss she was wearing, felt like two feather-filled pillows. When she gasped, I took that as an invitation and shoved my tongue inside her mouth. I teased the inside of her mouth with my tongue before sucking on hers, causing her to moan. She was submissive in the kiss, allowing me to lead.

Lowering my hand, I cuffed her ass and lifted her. One of her legs rose and went across my thighs. When she pressed her body further into me and rolled her hips, blood rushed down to my dick. Adrenaline pumped violently through my veins.

The last girl I kissed was my ex-girlfriend and that was over eight months ago. Feeling Nakyra’s body against mine, tasting her lips, was like something in me reawakened. My heart beat intensely, slamming against my chest cavity.

Something must have clicked in Nakyra because she suddenly snatched away from me with disbelief and guilt bubbling in her eyes. Her lip gloss was smeared, cheeks tinted red.

“I-I… Sorry!” Nakyra jumped up, knocking over the tray table her empty plate was on. She didn’t bother to pick it up as she rushed out of the living room and soon could be heard hurrying up the stairs.

Licking my lips, I tasted her gloss and swiped my thumb over my bottom one. “Damn.” I dropped my head and adjusted myself. What we did was wrong. I knew we had crossed a line we couldn’t take back, the bad part was I didn’t feel guilty about it. Nakyra obviously wasn’t getting what she needed or deserved in her relationship with my brother. I wasn’t one to step on anyone’s toes, but it was clear she craved attention and affection.

Looking over my shoulder I waited to see if she was gonna come back down. But when I heard nothing, I knew the night was over.

Chapter 16

Nakyra

“Why are you babysitting your drink? You need to catch up, cousin!” Summer complained, walking over and refilling my half empty glass.

I cut my eyes at her and she stuck her tongue out at me. “I know that’s right. Drink up!” Camilla followed up, lifting her glass then downing the contents inside.

We were having a girls’ night at Summer’s house. It was the first time the two of them met, and I needed a reason to be out of my house, so Summer agreed to host. Thankfully the two were hitting it off well.

“You better slow down. I know Dylan doesn’t want to have to pick you up and carry you out again,” I told her.

Camilla waved me off. “No one is worried about Dylan. Besides, he’s in ass kissing mode right now so he’ll do it with a smile on his face.”

“Dylan your boyfriend?” Summer questioned.

“Yes, my pain in the ass boyfriend.”

I snickered. “Don’t front. You’re in love with that pain in the ass.”

“Touche.” She grinned, pouring more of her drink.

“He does the racing?”

Camilla nodded. “Yes and my baby’s the best too.” Camilla’s eyes beamed with pride as she spoke about Dylan. The two might argue a lot but it was clear the love was as strong as ever. “You’ll have to come with Nakyra to a race one day.”

“Will do! I can’t believe she went without me anyway!” Summer cut her eyes in my direction.

I tossed my hand up. “Hey, it was last minute. I wasn’t expecting to be there that night.”

“She’s right, the races are announced late to avoid them being raided by cops.”

“See!” Summer waved me off and rolled her eyes before drinking more of her drink. I needed tonight. It had been two nights since the kiss between me and Creed happened. I was back to avoiding him. In no way was I a cheater, especially not with my fiancé’s brother. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late to stop it. The worst part was it didn’t feel wrong. Kissing Creed felt like someone had shocked my heart with paddles and brought it back to life. I loved Rome, but it had been so long since he’d made my heart race like that. That made my guilt worse.

I swayed to Summer Walker playing over the Bluetooth speaker. “Don’t change the subject Nakyra! Bitch, something’s going on with you. Spill!” Summer brought the attention back to me.

Both girls were watching me. My eyes bounced between them. My chest tightened. I gripped the cup in my hand and brought it to my mouth, drinking all of it in one go, causing me to choke.

“Okay, damn, I didn’t mean down it,” Summer said. “Slow down.”

Creed had texted me a couple times, but I left him on read. I wasn’t sure what to say to him. I knew a conversation between us needed to happen. The boundaries we crossed should have nevereven been tested, but they were past tested and now we were dancing in muddy waters.
