Reaching for my remote on the coffee table, I turned the TV on. “Anything you want to watch?”

“Something that’s gonna make me laugh.”

I snickered. “Okay.”

We ended up settling on Martin. For the first hour we ate and laughed while drinking the premade slushies.

“Can I ask how you and Dylan met?” I asked after a while.

“At a race.” Her words slurred as she spoke. “Me and a few of my cousins always used to go because it was always like one big party. Dylan had caught my eye a few times but he always had bitches in his face so I played it cool. One day one of my cousins dared me to approach him, and because I’m no hoe I did, and the rest was history.”

I snickered. “So just like that.”

“Yep! We were locked in from the beginning.”

I licked my lips and spoke cautiously. “Do you think you two are over?”

Her lips twisted and she swirled the drink around in her glass while staring at it. “I just want him to get where I’m coming from. I mean, here I am screaming about marriage and I don’t even give a damn about all that. I just want him to show he gives a fuck! I lost three of his babies and it seems like I’m the only one who’s hurting from it.”

“Since I’ve never been pregnant or lost a kid, I can’t say I know what you’re going through. I’ve also only been around you two once, but from that interaction it seemed like you two love each other. Maybe he just doesn’t know how to process the losses.”

She was quiet for a second. “How did you know your fiancé was the one?”

I scraped my bottom lip with my teeth. “Uhm…” I thought about it. “I guess he was the first guy to show he loved me out loud. I don’t have a good relationship with my parents. I don’t have friends. Rome was the first person outside of my cousin to show he cared so it was easy to fall for him.”

Camilla finished her drink then reached for another one. Our girls night continued with laughs, drinks, and talking. The conversation shifted from relationships to random topics. Even with her starting off upset Camilla still turned out to be a lot of fun. She was outspoken, blunt, and made me laugh more times than I could count. Hopefully she and Dylan could work it out because it was clear that she loved him.

“Hey, if you need somewhere to sleep tonight, I have a spare room,” I let Camilla know, shaking her slightly.

She mumbled something in her sleep I couldn’t make out before rolling over and getting more comfortable.

It was going on ten at night. We had been together since six and drinking since seven. I had stopped but Camilla kept going.

Bella’s head popped up and she looked toward the foyer and started barking, indicating someone was at the door. A few seconds later I heard the lock and the door open.

The sound of multiple footsteps filled my ears, gaining my attention. Soon Creed and Dylan appeared in the living room.

“I told you she was good,” Creed said, then looked at me. “I tried calling you to see if Camilla was here.”

“You did?” I reached for my phone. “Oh, I forgot I put it on silent.”

Dylan was silent as he observed the scene in front of him. He focused on the empty glasses on the table then shook his head.

Walking around the table, he approached the couch, kneeled, and placed one hand under her knees and the other under her lower back, lifting her bridal style.

Camilla mumbled something and fluttered her eyelids. “Mhm, what are you doing here?”

“I came to bring you home, drunky.”

“No, I’m mad at you,” she whined but curled deeper into his chest.

He chuckled and kissed her forehead. “I know, baby.”

Dylan looked at me. “Hopefully she wasn’t too much.”

I smiled softly at her. “Nah, she was fun.”
