“Listen, I should be the insecure one,” he told me, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Davey Turnbull’s a hard act follow. At least I’m not recounting my previous dates’ full names.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I know full well that you are not in the least intimidated by a farmer’s lad from Lower Winton.”

He shrugged. “You’re the one who brought him up just as we were about to?—”

I slapped his chest but did smile. “Don’t say it!”

He kissed me again and then held me against him, my body melting into his. Then he shuffled me over to his chest of drawers, pulled out a shirt and slipped it over my head. It came down to my knees, and I had to roll the sleeves up a few times to find my hands.

“Forget about clothes for a moment,” he said. “I want you to potter around the house in just my shirt.” He went back to thedrawers and pulled out a pair of thick socks. “Wear these, and I’ll crank the heat right up to thirty degrees. I have underfloor heating.”

“I’ll look ridiculous,” I mumbled.

“Trust me, you’ll look gorgeous.”

“Fine,” I snapped, taking the socks and pulling them on. “But only if you keep your shirtoff.”

He laughed again. “You’ve got a deal.”

Chapter 17

I’ve created a monster

Lucy

So that’s how we ended up in Felix’s ridiculously large kitchen, scrambling eggs, me in just his shirt and him in just his jeans.

“Do you want me to make Mum’s eggs?” I asked.

“Fuck, yes,” Felix said. “I bloody love your Mum’s eggs.”

His contribution to the scrambling process was to stand behind me at the kitchen counter, caging me in with his arms either side of me, his heat at my back, alternating between stroking my hair back from my neck and kissing me below my ear. I dropped the spoon twice until I abandoned the eggs and started kissing him again. This led to him lifting me up on the counter next to said eggs, lying me back against the granite with the cold at my back contrasting with the immense heat from his skin at my front. Just like in the shower I was doubtful about the logistics, but when I voiced this to Felix, he made it clear that was not a concern.

“I’ll make it work, I swear,” he said against my mouth, then proceeded to kiss down my neck to my chest, undoing thebuttons of his shirt as he went, then further to my breasts, down my stomach. I gasped when he dispatched my knickers in one fluid motion, and then his mouth was rightthere. So yes, he was right, the counter was indeed the perfect height. In fact, this should probably be our routine at breakfast from now on I decided as I came so hard I would have fallen off the granite without Felix holding me up.

“Wow,” I gasped as he moved up over me, his body covering mine again, and his arms came up to lift me off the counter against him. He smiled and then groaned as he slid deep. Our heavy breathing filled the kitchen as he effortlessly held me up away from the hard countertop. I’d have been content to just hold on for the ride and watch Felix lose control, but he wasn’t having any of that. As his thrusts became deeper and more out of control, he slid his hand around between us, his thumb pressing just where I needed it, and we fell over the edge together.

When I recovered enough to speak and he’d settled me back down on my feet, I quickly pulled the shirt sides together and started buttoning the front. Felix had said I was beautiful but there was no point giving him full frontal views in the unforgiving morning light of the kitchen for longer than I had to. I didn’t want to push my luck. I could feel my face heat as I pulled on my knickers, realising that I’d left his socks on throughout all of that. I was beginning to get that insecure feeling again in the pit of my stomach. Would Felix ask me to leave after breakfast? When I straightened, he seemed to read my mind again and reached for both my hands, tugging me forward and dipping down to kiss me again.

“Okay?” he said softly, dropping one of my hands so that one of his could come up to tuck my hair that had fallen in front of my eye behind my ear. “Was that too much? I was a bit rough and?—”

“No,” I cried, my eyes going wide. The last thing I needed was for Felix to think I was some delicate flower. What if the opportunity for dirty kitchen counter sex cropped up again, and he didn’t take it because he was afraid it would betoo much? I wasn’t missing out on any of the kitchen counter sex, thank you very much!

“It’s just that’s the second time you’ve gone all skittish after, though, love,” Felix said gently. “I want you to tell me honestly if there’s anything you’re uncomfortable with. It’s really important.”

I felt my face heat as I looked to the side.

“Lucy,” Felix called, his hand sliding to my jaw to gently turn my head to look at him. “Baby, please. You can tell me.”

“Ugh,” I huffed out. “You’re getting the wrong end of the stick. I’m only uncomfortable after because… well, duringstuffI’m in the moment so I forget to be embarrassed. But then afterwards, I kind of come back to myself and realise that…”

“Realise what?”

I sighed. “Firstly, I’ve hardly ever been naked in front of anyone before. I’m not sure I even took my top of with Davey.” Felix growled in warning at the mention of Davey’s name and I rolled my eyes. “Look, I’ve never even stepped inside a gym. I like my mum’s carrot cake. And I was voted pastiest villager at the church fete. I’m not overly keen for you to get an eyeful and be put off.”

“Lucy, look at me,” he commanded in his Boss Voice. I blinked up at him as I bit my lip. “I am completely obsessed with your body exactly the way it is. There will be no gyms in your future – clearly, you need any excess energy to keep yourself warm. But you really have to tell me if anything we did was?—”

“No, no!” I repeated. “That was amazing. I’ve never done any of that stuff before, but trust me, I’m on board. I want toofficially declare my full enjoyment and formally request further kitchen exploits.” Felix’s shoulders started shaking.
