Corbin’s.

“I can hear you. I’m in the next room, not Chicago,” he stated. “As for watching, I’ll pass.”

Well, so much for the crotch goblin sleeping. He hoped their sex didn’t wake him up. Gene didn’t want to have to bust someone’s ass back if he started.

“Deal?” Gene asked, ignoring him.

Ethan nodded.

“Deal.”

That was all Gene wanted to hear.

Keeping his hand in his, they headed toward where Corbin was sitting. He was on the couch, wearing sweats, and was still wrapped in his blanket.

The fireplace was on, and it was clear he had just awoken not that long ago.

Gene and Corbin said nothing to each other, and Ethan didn’t miss that there was tension there.

Honestly, it was the last thing they needed.

“Did we wake you?” Ethan asked.

Corbin shook his head.

“No, you didn’t. Besides, it’s your place. If you want to get molested here, who am I to say shit?” he asked.

They were trying to be conscientious to the whole situation with Corbin. They didn’t want to be flaunting sex all over the place after what he went through.

Instead of dealing with Corbin, Gene wanted to get this handled.

“As for the rest,” Gene said, filling Ethan in, “we found out some interesting things,” he admitted.

So, he broke it down.

“While we were talking to the two jackholes who passed this mess off to Corbin, something came up. Right now, people aren’t only being trafficked for sex, but they are being used as mules to a drug that the US government absolutely, positively doesNOTwant in this country.”

Ethan was curious.

“What are we talking about?” he asked, knowing it had to be bad if Gabe was planning something. He’d worked vice and knew what shit was going on in the world, outside of homicides.

It had been tough work.

Don’t get him wrong. Ethan was grateful for his time there because that’s where he and Gene connected and became partners.

“It’s this white powder shit that is so bad, the US government tried to handle it in Colombia,” he stated. “And Corbin, you’re hearingNONEof this, am I clear?” he asked.

The man nodded.

“I’m clear.”

Gene still didn’t look at the man.

“He wants it handled because it shouldn’t be here. Corbin fell into a mess that is even bigger than the FBI.”

Damn.

Someone tended to do that.
