Aware of his senses, that he could feel her accelerating pulse, her need for him thundering out of control, she felt the last trail of doubt between them melt away. Sliding her bra strap over her shoulder, he followed the fabric with the tip of his tongue, the sensual trail sending shivers over her skin.
Freed from the satin, the chill wind brushed over her sensitive buds, tightening in contrast to the heat blazing in her veins. Hands grasped over her breasts, he teased his thumbs over her, then took her deep in his mouth, thrill rushing straight to her core at the exquisite sensation.
Reading her response, he pulled harder when she craved it, then eased and trailed his tongue over her skin again.
Her hunger for him rose higher with each touch, each kiss.
He paused long enough to meet her gaze, silently asking for more.
Taking her lower lip between her teeth, she rose long enough to strip off the rest of her clothes. In half a heartbeat, vampire speed coming in remarkably handy, he was deliciously undressed and ready for her.
She lowered to straddle him and reached between them, gripping his cock in her hand, tormenting, massaging until he hissed in desperate response and thrust his tongue over hers while he pulled her over him.
Driving inside her, he groaned with a long-awaited satisfaction.
Exquisite heat coursed through her as he filled her, the stirring connection more vivid, more… vital.
Moving together, fluid, intense, he trailed his fingertips up her sides and cupped her breasts, his eyes never leaving hers as he drove her past the point of no return. Nearing her climax, his name on her lips, she drove their pace higher, faster. Meeting her stroke for stroke, his grip tightened over her hips as they crested together.
Riding the wave, easing, slowing, the throbbing heat lingering, she rested her forehead on his, breath coming fast and heavy.
All the words needing to be said filled her throat, forming an impenetrable blockage.
Bennett’s hands rested on her thighs as they sat frozen together. “Thanks for not giving up on me,” he whispered.
“Never,” she said, terrified he’d ask what she meant.
Chapter17
Sipping from a blood-laced mug of coffee, handing her a matching cup, Blayk winked at Adair and said, “See you two made up okay.”
Lana strolled into the galley and winked, “Don’t need vampire senses to have heard how thorough their make-up was. And the second round. And the third. And–”
“Okay.” Adair shushed her as the blush flamed her cheeks. “You’re one to talk, Miss ‘Tell me how you want to lick my–’”
“Okay.” Lana nudged her and moved around Blayk to grab a coffee cup for herself. “We can exchange tips later.”
Adair cradled her coffee in her hands and leaned against the counter. “What does your boyfriend think of you being off the grid for a while?” She glanced to Blayk, curious if he’d be disappointed.
He shrugged, as if to say, easy come, easy go. Okay, so maybe not Lana. But now that she had her friend back, finding him a non-vampire mate, even a demon hunter, might be the perfect way to keep him around and out of the crosshairs of demon hunters. Already, he wasn’t complaining at his non-human drink.
The sun was rising over the horizon, the curtains brightening as the darkness faded. She could hear the team up and about, none acknowledging the day ahead.
Poking his head in the fridge, Blayk asked, “So Bennett can walk in the day, huh?”
Adair nodded, filling up a mug for Bennett as she heard him coming up the steps. “You didn’t know?”
He shook his head. “Nope. And Calloway doesn’t either.”
Reaching the top step, Bennett’s short hair was deliciously tousled from the shower. Dressed in black cargos, athletic shirt and sturdy boots, he was primed for the mission. The corners of his lips turned up as she brought him a mug, more blood than coffee, knowing he’d need the extra fuel today.
He slipped his arm around her and pulled her against him, nuzzling his rough beard against her neck as he stole a kiss over the pulse point of her neck. Releasing her only to make room for the others, he splayed his hand around her middle. Bennett asked, “I read and re-read that prophecy in the book we found at Cambria’s. There is nothing about what I can and can’t do.”
Phone to his ear, Ryan came in, dressed to kill like the rest of them were. “No one thinks you’re abandoning them… Yes, I promise I will get you and bring you here if we need you…” He winked and made his way for the coffee pot in the cramped galley. Finally, he ended the call and scooped a few dozen eggs from the fridge while Lana ripped open some packages of bacon.
Bennett said, “Quinn hates missing out.”
Ryan nodded. “She’s doing better than I thought, but my mom’s there in case she’s needed in a hurry. We’ve already got a fricking stockpile of pumped milk in the freezer for emergencies.”
