“We don’t even know that I am immortal. I’m a messed-up anomaly that shouldn’t exist.” He trailed his thumb over her chin, cradling her jaw.

“When this is done, I’m out. I can’t spend the rest of my life worrying about whether you’re coming home.”

“Then come with me. Always.”

“Don’t ask it.” She rested her hand over his heart and her lashes fluttered as her gaze swept to his lips.

“Today, tomorrow, however long you’ll have me,” he whispered, a hoarse desperation in his voice. “What were you saying about all work and no play?”

Gripping her hand around the back of his neck, she tugged him close and kissed him, flying right past any testing or sweetness, she seemed to be riding on the same wave of adrenaline from the night that he was. He clutched his hand in her hair, keeping pace, and parried thrust for thrust. His knees weak at the onslaught, he strained to keep up with her.

Sliding his hands down her sides, he lifted the edge of her dress up and wrapped his fingers around her thighs. Breath warm and lips pliant against his, she sighed into his mouth. Body pressed against his, she nipped his lower lip.

Her skin like satin under his fingertips, he shifted and slid the lace of her panties out of his way. One hand holding her up against him, the other slid along her slick heat. Pulse accelerating at his touch, she murmured a soft plea, pressing her cheek against his. Teasing his fingers against her core, he rubbed and massaged until she cried out with a hungry release.

As her pulse crested, he dropped to his knees and ripped her panties out of the way. Shifting her dress above her hips, he pressed his mouth to her core.

She gasped and leaned into him, her hands braced on his shoulders.

Absorbed in her, needing to send her higher, he licked along her honeyed silk, half-mad with desire.

“Bennett,” she panted as he increased the pace.

Driving his fingers into her, he cupped and massaged until her breath came fast and thready and desperate. Vibrating his tongue against her until she could no longer sense anything but him, he upped the pace until she clenched tight around him. Heady, new and familiar and achingly his, he needed to taste her, touch her, claim her.

Feeling her orgasm as acutely as if it were his own, his heart beating to match hers, he clutched his other hand on her hip to hold her steady and sucked until she screamed out his name.

Unsteady, but sailing on air, he rose to his feet and he slipped her dress over her head. He craved her, beyond any thirst, beyond any thrill of the fight. Scooping her into his arms, he laid her on the dining table. She fastened her legs around his waist and pinned him to her. Plunging into her, painful, thrilling after how long he’d dreamed of her, his vision blackened darker than the night sky on impact.

She gripped him tight against her, her soprano moans drove him faster, harder in a rhythm he’d never thought possible. Breath coming fast, she held him tight inside her, her pulse soaring with his as they rode the wave together.

Grounding him, she whispered his name, easing him down from a dizzying climax. Vision clearing, he looked down to see the corner of her mouth quirk up at his delirium. Withdrawing, he offered a hand and pulled her up.

Fucking hot, naked and flushed as she leaned against the table edge, she ran her hand over his pecs and down his abdomen, full-on grin brightening her expression. “Sturdy table; I can’t believe it held up. Looks pretty new. You should post a review.”

Surprised laughter bubbled up in his chest and echoed across the room. “Don’t move, I’ll attach a picture. Their sales will soar.” Imprinting the image indefinitely to his brain, he grinned. “You’d think an immortal could get stuck in the past, but you stay up with the latest. Centuries older than my parents, and they just mastered the art of texting.”

“It’s much more interesting to go with the flow.” Fingers teasing at his waist, she smiled and asked, “As I recall, demon hunter stamina is incomparable.”

Already rock hard as he mentally relived what they’d done, the taunting glimmer in her eyes, he scooped her up and she wrapped her legs around him. “Even better with vampire senses and speed.”

Casting a warming glow on the ceiling above the curtain, the sunlight hinted at midday. Bennett’s eyes eased open, no gritty sleepiness blocking his view as he’d woken to every morning for the last few years. Utterly at peace, or so it appeared, Adair snuggled into him, her lips turned up in a subtle smile, her hair splayed out in carefree disarray over the pillow.

Burning brewed at the back of his throat, the thirst warning him he needed to feed soon. Overwhelmed with the need for her above anything else, again, he pressed his lips to hers, entreating her to wake. Her mouth curled into a richer smile, her eyes fluttering open as she eased atop him and sat up to welcome the day in the best possible way. With minimal preamble, she slid over him and began an aching, familiar rhythm. He couldn’t imagine how she could even consider not continuingthisfor as long as their lives would allow.

In the shadowy afternoon haze, he traced his fingertips over the silk of her thighs, watching her take her lower lip between her teeth as her breath quickened and her hips rocked over his. Every sensation of their connection exquisitely vivid, completely filling him, she was everything. Taking her hips in his grip, he shifted her faster, harder against him until she cried out and crested the wave with him.

Melting over him, she released him only long enough to lie chest-to-chest, driving him wild again with delicate, tasting kisses.

Until his morning was ruined.

He knew before seeing.

Heard their voices the moment they stepped inside, laughing about their spontaneous, but long-overdue vacation.

In the seconds between their arrival and the interruption, he was too stunned to react. Adair sensed them as he did, stiffening and closing her eyes. As their voices drew closer, he stilled, too frozen to move.
