I sighed and picked up the semi-precious gem. Could I be open to the idea of dating? Of a new relationship? New love?

I didn’t believe Seth would ever intentionally hurt me, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to put my heart on the line again.

The thing that scared me the most was I could easily see myself falling for a guy like Seth.

Chapter Twenty-One

SETH

Wednesday 9:52 a.m.

Me: Logan wants us to go out with him and Izzy Friday night.

Violet: And what did you say?

Me: No. But he won’t leave it alone. Says you’d enjoy it.

Violet: Lol. I mean that could be fun. But we don’t have to.

Me: Just told him yes. They want to go to The Crescent Moon. Says they have live music on Fridays.

Violet: Wow. Pretty sure that’s the most words I’ve seen you use.

Me: Ha. Ha.

Violet: So, live music? Does that mean dancing? Because I love dancing.

Me: I don’t dance.

Violet: That doesn’t surprise me.

Violet: You live a very boring life.

Me: I did. Until I had to carry your ass down a ladder.

Violet: And you’re welcome. Now you’re having more fun.

Me: Sigh.

Violet: Secretly you love it.

Me: I’ll pick you up at 7 on Friday.

Violet: Ok Mountain Man.

Me: And we’re back to that.

Seth heldthe door to The Crescent Moon open, and a shiver raced down my spine as he stared at me. My feet slowed. Actually, everything seemed to slow down.

Things felt different. I couldn’t explain it, but there was this tension between us.

Was it new? Or had I just never noticed it before?
