I hope to Fate you aren’t having sex.
At the same time I’m texting you? Why are you in a mood? Where’s Rorie?
In the conference room and I’m not in a mood. I’m relaying a message.
All I’m asking is if I can finish what I’m doing.
It took Renny less than a minute to make a guess about what Dra’Kaedan might be involved in if he wasn’t in the office during the day. You’re eating, aren’t you?
I’ve only got a couple more bites.
We’ll come to the kitchen. I assume that’s where you’re at?
Yep, wait until you taste these fucking breadsticks. They’ve got melted cheese and there’s this crazy oil dipping sauce.
“Hey, Rorie, we’re going to head into the house to talk to Dra’Kaedan,” Renny called out. Although Klodjana might not want him to be a part of the conversation, he was too nosy to bow out unless she insisted.
“We can take a break,” his mate remarked as he and Drekkoril joined them. Rorie hurried to his side, and Renny smiled into their kiss.
“Let’s go,” Klodjana said and led their little party the short distance from the office building into the house. They found Dra’Kaedan with a nearly empty plate and the two D’Vaire chefs prepping vegetables for dinner.
“What’s up?” Dra’Kaedan asked.
“I’ve thought about this for a while, but after being on the Fae realm, I realized what a disservice I’ve been doing to my familiar by leaving her as a mark on my skin,” Klodjana commented.
“You aren’t being unfair to anyone. You lost your first familiar through no fault of your own, and I think it’s best if you summon your new one when you feel you’re ready…not out of some misplaced guilt,” Dra’Kaedan replied.
“That’s just it. Iamready. I want to do this.”
“It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t ask you if you’re sure.”
“I’m definitely sure.”
“Okay, let’s do this right,” Dra’Kaedan said, hopping off the stool. “Let’s get the rest of the Coven of Warlocks gathered and our High Kings.”
“I’ll text the warlocks,” Renny offered.
“Okay, I’ll get Rafe and Lankenstein,” Dra’Kaedan remarked, then stalked out to get their leaders from the office where they spent their days.
“This is most exciting,” Rorie enthused. “I am happy that your familiar will be brought into the flesh with a warm welcome. Had I to do it over again, it is something I would have gifted Drekkoril with.”
“At least you gave me privacy and did not do it in the room full of sioskallos,” Drekkoril mused.
“I did not wish to share anything with those asshats,” Rorie said, which had Renny grinning. His mate had so quickly slid into the role of D’Vaire and their favorite vocabulary. Making quick work of it by sending out a group text, it only took a few minutes for Dre’Kariston, Lucian, and Somerly to appear. Wullem and Leopold were behind them, and Scheredin arrived with Brexton on his heels at the same time Dra’Kaedan returned with Aleksander and Rafe. Their wolves trotted in and since it was getting crowded in the kitchen, they headed into the living area. To Renny’s surprise and immense pleasure, Noirin and Kendrick joined them.
“What’s up, Squirt?” Aleksander asked.
“The Coven of Warlocks would like the permission of the High Court of D’Vaire to add a new member to the household,” Dra’Kaedan said.
“You want to dowhat?” Brogan demanded, stomping to Dra’Kaedan’s side.
“Mate, settle down,” Dra’Kaedan ordered. “Klodjana is ready to summon her familiar.”
“Okay, that’s awesome,” the Grand Duke responded sheepishly, dropping a kiss on Dra’Kaedan’s golden curls.
“This is incredible. I’ve never seen a familiar summoned before,” Rafe enthused. “Permission is definitely granted.”
“Where are Mom and Dad?” Dre’Kariston asked.
