“Sure.”

“If you will teleport there, I can find a servant to send food and join you.”

Renny gave Rorie a deep kiss that curled his toes. “I’ll see you in a few minutes?”

“If that.”

Once Renny shimmered away, Rorie raced to the kitchen and quickly ordered a meal for him and Renny to be delivered to the Faedrekan terrace. The servants were frightened, but he assured them he’d send the beasts away to allow them to set down the food. His promise made, Rorie cast a spell to take himself to the center of the pale stones expertly mixed with ones of gold in an ancient pattern that resembled the shield on the Fae flag. Rorie grinned at finding Renny rubbing the bellies of two appreciative animals.

“It is ironic that the Fae are so afeared of them when all they need do to tame them is give them belly rubs,” Rorie mused.

Renny laughed. “Is that how you did it?”

“No, I collected berries from a tree and kept setting them out until I could get close enough to Orlami,” Rorie revealed while the Faedrekan in question came over to him to press their foreheads together. “I was kind to him. I spoke with him and as soon as he allowed, I gave him pets. I spoke to him the entire time I bound our souls, using my magic to soothe and reassure him. The heavy weight of my grief was lifted in those moments, and for that he will always have my undying devotion. I believe they have a magic and can relax and soothe if you allow them.”

“You know, on my realm, people train animals to be used for therapeutic purposes. It can help for so many disorders, including anxiety. Maybe Orlami is your therapy dragon.”

“Perhaps it would be helpful for others to choose less dangerous animals, but I am glad to have him.”

“Protector Roriethiel, I have your meal,” a shaky voice called out.

“Orlami. Zurenzi. Please fly away for a few minutes so Renny and I can accept our food.”

The Faedrekan flapped their beautiful wings and soared upward, allowing the servant to set out their picnic with trembling hands.

“My thanks to you,” Rorie told the man as he scampered off.

“I know this is going to be delicious, but I really need a hamburger.”

“Not as much as your Dra’Kaedan needs a cake. He spent the whole of the day listing flavor combinations he enjoys.”

“We’re probably going to have to find Brogan some earplugs soon.”

“I might make it a priority,” Rorie confessed, sitting on a padded blanket he created with a whiff of magic. With no remorse, he gobbled up what he considered excellent food despite the complaints around him of those with much different diets. “He interrupts me if I try to flirt with you.”

“Not that I don’t always want to be flirted with, but the whole grabbing my dick thing while we’re in public isn’t great.”

“Why would you not wish me to touch your lovely cock?”

“Because we aren’t having sex with an audience, and if you touch me all I can think about is getting off.”

“I do so love having sex with you.”

“Hey, I’m not complaining. You’re fantastic in bed. I’m just saying we should save that kind of touching for when we’re alone.”

“I do my best to tell myself that, but I cannot control my impulse to slide my hands over you.”

“Do you know what I think?” Renny asked and kissed him. “I think you are conveniently going to use the reckless fairy excuse.”

“I am reckless.”

“And impulsive.”

“Yes, I do not consider such things as flaws.”

“It’s your nature, and that’s part of who you are, but sometimes I think you fairies use it to your advantage.”

Not sure whether to be insulted, Rorie cocked his head to the side. “Are you trying to anger me?”
