Theo
Theo and Germaine tried to figure out where she could be. He knew exactly where she went – to find Aliyah. However, the wolf shifters weren’t going to keep Aliyah in a place that was obvious. They would know that the dragon shifters would immediately find her and attack.
“I think it’s time you talk to your grandfather,” Germaine said. “He’s the only one who can help you at this point.”
Theo nodded. His friend was right.
Ivan didn’t seem to be surprised when Theo showed up.
“What’s going on, Theo?” Ivan asked.
“Grandfather, I need your help,” Theo explained the whole story, his words coming out in a rush.
Ivan stapled his fingers. “I see,” he said.
“I’ve been such an idiot. Gemma is my mate. She is the one,” Theo said miserably. “And now, I’ve lost her. I have to get her back. But I need your help.”
“I could have told you she was your mate. It was obvious to most of us. What took you so long to figure it out?” Ivan asked.
“I was so focused on the past, on Savannah, and on my guilt of how she died that I was blind,” Theo admitted. “Please, Grandfather, I need your help. I must find Gemma and rescue her. I can’t lose another mate.”
Ivan was quiet for a minute. Theo jumped up from his seat, pacing the room, running his fingers through his hair.
Finally, Ivan spoke. “I have a friend who might be able to help us.”
He wrote out a letter and called one of the young dragon shifters into his office. “Draco, could you please take this to Madam Marie?”
“Yes, sir,” Draco replied enthusiastically.
The young man took the paper and went outside, where he transformed into his dragon form.
“She lives high in the mountains where it is very difficult to get to her. She doesn’t have a phone or any form of technology. Only the most dedicated of people who seek her guidance can get to her. Unless, of course, you’re a dragon shifter, and then, it’s relatively easy,” the old man explained to Theo, shrugging.
Although it was little more than an hour, it seemed like an eternity had passed before the dragon shifter arrived with Marie.
Draco returned with a woman who looked as ancient as Ivan. The clan leader stood and greeted the old woman with a huge, enveloping hug.
“Marie, you’re looking as beautiful as ever,” Ivan exclaimed.
“If by beautiful, you mean old and rough, then, I’ll take your compliment,” Marie cackled. Then, she peered at Theo. “This must be the young man you referenced in your note,” she said.
“Yes, it is. This is my grandson, Theo. Theo, this is my good friend, Marie, who happens to be one of the most powerful witches on Earth. She is able to see the past, present, and the future.”
“Pardon you, sir. I amthemost powerful witch on Earth.” She laughed.
“It’s been too long. We must get together more often,” Ivan said.
“Yes, indeed. Now, as for your problem,” Marie answered.
She looked piercingly at Theo. “You must survive this war. If you do, you’ll find the love that you lost so long ago. Your past, your present, and your future are connected to one woman. Her name is Gemma. But two hundred years ago, you knew her as Savannah. Gemma is her reincarnation,” Marie declared.
Theo felt as though his heart had completely stopped. He couldn’t catch his breath. Gasping for air, his legs gave out on him, and he fell onto his chair. How stupid, stubborn, and blind could he be. He should have seen it. Gemma had reminded him so much of Savannah, down to the small details, such as her love for gargoyles.
“How can you know this so quickly?” Theo asked, wanting so badly to believe her.
The witch raised her brow. “I foresaw this little meeting long ago and cast a spell to get the answer you seek.”
“You knew this all along?” he asked. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
