“You sure?” Devil asked.

“If you are, I have this banquet I have to go to in two weeks that I could use a date for,” Nora said.

Six glared at her friends, making Cyn grin. Six might not beinterestedinterested, but she wasn’tdisinterested.

“I bet you could get him to agree to a blind date with Nora,” Joe said, obviously catching on.

“He’s a colleague,” Six said. “I’m not going to ask him to go on a blind date with a friend. As much as I love you, Nora, I’m not doing that. It would be questionably ethical.”

“Didn’t you say there aren’t any real ethics issues?” Cyn pointed out.

Six switched her glare to Cyn, then let her gaze sweep the room, taking in the four shit-eating (one of Cyn’s favorite Americanisms) grins.

Six threw up her hands. “Have I ever told you all how much I hate you?”

Devil, Nora, and Cyn all grinned and, at the same time, responded, “’Cause there’s nothing like a best friend to ruin your day.”
