There is a link to a story so I open it.

Tait Flanigan promises payout to assistant to sleep with him.

Samantha Riggs was fooling everyone when she made us believe she was dating Tait Flanigan because of his winning personality. Turns out he was using her for sex, with the promise of being able to connect her with top directors around Hollywood. I never would have pegged Tait to have to pay for sex, but looks can be deceiving. Below are pictures of the contract we have procured from an unnamed source.

I wonder how many other contracts he’s offered up to ladies he’s been linked with. Anyone willing to step forward?

I look at the pictures. It’s my contract, all right. Why the fuck would she do this? What gain does it give her? Is she really that angry with me that she would ruin her own career?

Rory:Please tell me this is fake.

Me:No, it’s a real contract. I wanted her to feel protected when we were hooking up. Guess this one backfired on me, huh?

Rory:You’re going to be lucky if the studio doesn’t drop your ass. She’s not answering my calls. We need to fix this.

Me:I’ll talk to her.

I pull up the news article again to view the timestamp, seeing it was posted three hours ago. I dial Sam’s number and it rings straight to voicemail. Next, I try Emily. Same thing, straight to voicemail. There is only one way I am going to resolve this. I need to see Sam, and sheisgoing to talk to me.

Chapter 32

I’m still lyingon the floor when Emily walks through the front door with her suitcase in tow.

“You know your bed is probably more comfortable, right?” she asks as she closes the door quietly behind her. “Listen, I’ve talked with Tait. What the hell is going on?”

“Nothing. I made a mistake with him, and I need to fix it. I am fixing it.” I’m staring at a dust bunny in the corner of the room. Too exhausted to give my words any emotion.

She kneels next to me, resting back on her heels. “Ben has something to do with this, doesn’t he?”

“Yes,” I whisper.

“Up. Come on.” She grabs my shoulders and helps me sit up. “You’re going to tell me everything, and we’re going to try to fix it together.”

I look at her and her infamous mom look. I don’t even know how to start telling her about what a messed-up situation this whole thing is.

As if she can read my mind, she tells me, “Start at the beginning.” She hands me a tissue and I wipe my red eyes with it and blow my nose—which is equally as red from crying.

“Do I actually need to start at the beginning? I’m assuming Tait already told you about the contract and everything?” She nods. “Did I ever tell you Ben stopped by the first week I was in Vancouver to try to get me back?”

Her eyes are wide in disbelief. “What? No! Why the hell wouldn’t you tell me that?”

“It’s Ben. We all know he’s a little crazy. He told me that I just needed to hear him out, and then if I still didn’t want him, he would leave me alone. I still didn’t want him, and he left. The only problem was, I had the contract from Tait sitting out and he took pictures of it while I was in the bathroom. I had no idea. They were in an envelope, so he must have opened it and liked what he saw.”

She opens her mouth to respond, and I hold my hand up, silencing her. “I hadn’t heard back from Ben, and things were going well with Tait. I honestly had no idea he even saw anything. The night we went out to the club when Quinn got roofied, I went back to my room and Ben was there waiting for me. He had seen pictures of the two of us and didn’t like it. He told me Tait wasn’t good for me and that I needed to be with him instead. When I called him crazy, he pulled out the pictures of the contract and told me if I didn’t leave Tait and Vancouver that he was going to release the pictures.

“I told him I had a job to finish, and the other option he was leaving me with was that he would stay with me. Keep me safe from Tait. Not a chance in hell was I going to have him stay there, so I called you and asked you to finish out the last few weeks.”

“He really is a crazy fucker, Sam. So, why don’t you just tell Tait he had pictures?”

“I don’t think it’s fair that he should have to deal with this. Ben is my mistake, and I am going to fix it.”

“You told Tait you loved him today, and then you took it back and kicked him out. Why?”

The tears start welling up in my eyes all over again. I take a quivering breath and force my lips to form the words. “Ben stopped by and he heard Tait’s voice. He stormed out of here without letting me explain. I thought it best for Tait to leave as quickly as possible.”

“Sam, you need to talk to Tait. You need to tell him what is going on.”

I nod vigorously. “I know. I need to make sure things are okay with Ben first and that he’ll keep this information to himself. Will you come with me?”
