I’m nervous as hell.I’m sitting in the back of an Uber on my way to Sam’s place, trying to run through everything I’m going to say to her. I keep wiping my hands on my pants because I’m sweating so much.I wasn’t even this nervous for my first acting job! This girl really has done something to me, and unless she has a good reason, I’m not going to take no for an answer.
He pulls up outside the building, and I thank the driver as I take my suitcase out of the trunk. I look up to the third floor and see lights on in the living room.I hope that’s her apartment.I take the rickety elevator up and walk down the small hallway to apartment three-zero-five. The key feels heavy in my hand as I turn it over a few times, examining it. It’s now or never. I take a deep breath, put the key into the lock, and push open the door.
I walk in, looking around the small apartment. No one is in the kitchen or living room, but all the lights are on. I leave my suitcase in the living room and continue down the hall past the bathroom and a dark bedroom. Straight ahead, I see the door I’m looking for. Emily told me her room was at the end of the hallway. I raise my hand and knock quietly.
“Emmy!” she squeals from the other side of the door. She pulls it open, and her face falls when she sees me.
She stares, shaking her head. “You’re not my Emmy. You’re my Tait. My sweet, sexy, talented Tait. You can’t be here though.” She has a small slur to her words.
“Lass, you ran out on me and wouldn’t even tell me what’s going on. Then I see pictures of you and your ex making out. What the hell is going on? I’ve been trying to contact you since you left, and so has Emily. What aren’t you telling me? If you can give me a damn good reason why we can’t be together, then I’ll leave, no questions asked.”
She blinks her eyes up at me a few times. I reach out and touch her cheek, and she nuzzles into my embrace. “I’ve missed you so much, Tait.”
I pull her to me and envelop her in a hug. “Why did you run, lass? What are you afraid of?”
She pushes me back and looks up at me. She wraps her hand around the back on my neck and pulls me down to her. Our lips touch, and it’s like a current runs through my body. Every hair stands on end. I’ve missed this feeling. Kissing her feels so right, I can’t even begin to tell you. It ends all too soon though, and she looks up at me, pleading for me to continue.
“Tell me you don’t want me. Tell me you want me to leave and I’m gone. Just know that if you don’t, you’remine. I won’t let you go without a fight.”
“Yours?” She looks up at me, her chin quivering.
“Yes, lass. Please don’t push me away.” I tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “You’ve ignored me enough these past few weeks. I can’t stand to not be with you any longer.”
“Stay. Please,” she whispers.
That’s the only invitation I need. I lift her up, and she wraps her legs around me. Her lips are on my neck, and I squeeze her ass as I carry her to her bed. I lay her down and place my hands on either side of her face, trapping her under me. Dipping my head, I kiss her neck, working down her body. I kiss every inch of exposed skin, and she arches up into my touch. She wraps her legs around my waist as I crawl back up her body. She whimpers as she feels how hard I am, and I rock my hips into her again just to watch her expression change.
I want this more than anything, but she’s drunk and I won’t take her like this. I want her to remember the night. It takes every ounce of self-control I have to pull away from her.
“Sam, you’re drunk. I can’t have you like this.”
“I have to be.” She pouts.
“Why do you have to be drunk?”
“Because if I’m not then it hurts too much. He can’t have all of me. He can have my body, but not my feelings.”
“He? Do you mean Ben? Sam, what the hell is going on? Did he force you to have sex with him?”
“I’m sorry, Tait.”
Chapter 30
I stirawake and feel a warm body pressed up against mine. I’m afraid to turn and find out last night was all a dream and that it’s really Ben who has wrapped himself around me. I take a deep breath and instantly recognize Tait’s scent. It’s real. He’s here.I’m happy and sad all at once as I tuck his hand under my chin and snuggle back down.
He pulls me tighter to him and inhales a deep breath. He kisses my neck and I turn, allowing him more access to my skin. He kneads my breast roughly as his kisses become needy—open-mouthed, his tongue exploring my sensitive flesh. I turn onto my back, and he crawls over me. All our movements are slow and sensual. Nothing is rushed. It’s perfect.
He dips his head and pulls my nipple between his teeth, letting it go with a pop. He then gives the same attention to the other side until both of them are hard and sensitive. I run my fingers through his hair, pulling his mouth back to mine. I explore his mouth as my fingers roam his body—down his arms and up the cords of his back. We kiss for so long, I feel I might explode if he doesn’t have his way with me.
“Please, Tait. I need you.” I moan.
He shifts his weight and lines himself up. I expect him to thrust in fast, but he doesn’t. He surprises me and presses in slowly, allowing me to feel every perfect inch of him. He fills me completely and holds still, dipping his head to kiss me. He starts moving, but he keeps his pace slow, deliberate. My body is on fire. Sex has never felt like this with anyone. There is so much love and trust behind his movements that I know this is more than just sex.
Kisses and touches turn needier, and his thrusts become sloppy as we both get closer to release. I’m rubbing myself as fast as I can, and I wrap my legs around his lower back, keeping him deep inside me.
“I love you, Tait,” I cry out, hitting my orgasm hard. I’m twitching and moaning beneath him and can feel the moment he lets go.
