“Holy shit, I can’t believe it’s you,” a teenager with an American accent says when he stops next to our seats, waiting until the family in front of him has put their bags in the overhead lockers. “I heard you were traveling back to New York but had no idea you would be on the same flight,” he continues.

Jasper smiles at the boy. “Lucky us. What’s your name?”
“It’s Kody with a K.”
“Nice to meet you, Kody with a K. Are you a fan of the Woodpeckers?”
Kody’s face lights up. “Of course, dude! You killed it last season.”
Jasper chuckles. “Glad to hear it—I appreciate your support.”
“My friends won’t believe that I met you!”
“How about a selfie as proof?” Jasper offers.
Kody’s eyes widen comically. “Sure, um, just a moment.” He gets his phone out, and they pose for a photo together. “This is so cool. I can’t wait to see you on the ice again.”
“How about I ask the ticket office to reserve four tickets for our game next week?
“You would do that?” Kody whispers in awe.
“Yeah, I’ll text them right away,” Jasper says, taking his phone from his pocket. “Just a moment.”
He taps on the screen and turns it so Kody and I can read it.
