Yes, indeed, she was full of sunshine.

She had her head up in the clouds so far that it was hard to reach her.

Many people tried, but only one person made it close.

She kept living in her fantasy.

That was until her dreams turned into nightmares one evening.

All her hopes and dreams were only results of her imagination.

Oh, how it hurt her.

Broken and empty promises filled her entire bubble until it burst open, unable to hold on.

Her safety was compromised, and she needed a way to escape reality.

She had to run to be able to breathe.

Soon that sweet little girl was gone with the wind, and she wasn’t coming back.

Not tomorrow, not next week.

Her fairytale ended before it even had a chance to start.

That sweet little girl was me.

ROSE

Like my favorite coffee mug says, I enjoy my men like I enjoy my coffee.

Hot, sweet, strong, and able to keep me up all night.

Unfortunately, the last part has been a miss for as long as I can remember. My luck with men has been so bad that it’s like the tragicomedy one of my past dates took me to see at a local comedy club.

I feel like I should get an IV of coffee directly to my veins. Even my fresh coffee blend isn’t waking me up. Tonight’s date with Eli kept me turning in my bed all night long. So technically, he did keep me up all night, just not the way I wanted.

I wasn’t sure how to reply to his latest text two days ago. His mention of being the only guy dating me made me feel giddy and scared at the same time. Then I asked my roommates what they thought. It wasn’t surprising that they all told me to text him back. It was Timmy’s idea only to send our home address. In his words,Eli is a wise man who knows what that means. Trust me, hun.

So that’s what I did.

And now it’s time to get ready to go on a date with him.

My 17-year-old self would faint if she heard about tonight.

Haisley is in my room to prepare me for my date. She has the most dating experience in our household, so she’s my reference point. Haisley also knows how to make my hair look smooth and silky without trying too much.

She’s currently working her magic on my wild mane, brushing my curls. “Rose, do you think we should leave your hair down or tie it up in a bun?”

“Leave it down. Eli loves my hair. He couldn’t stop touching it the night we spent together years ago. Maybe he will do the same tonight,” I say, my cheeks warming up. Haisley glances at our reflection and sees my reaction.

“Oh, tell me more!” She whoops with glee.

I laugh. “Honestly, my mind keeps reminding me that I still have that freaking magazine article to write while my vagina is shouting how she needs some Eli time and soon,” I admit while playing with the hem of my tank top. “It’s like my heart is stuck between the two, both figuratively and literally, trying to decide the right action here. When did my vagina have this much control over everything?”

“You know what, chica, I feel like you need one of those hugs that turn into sex. It would calm down your wandering mind and your excited vagina,” Haisley points out with a straight face.
