Anxious to see the people behind the door, I opened it. The sight behind the door was one that I could never get tired of. There was little Emorey, whom I’d had the pleasure of meeting already. Then there was a slightly taller, slightly bigger version of Emorey who happened to be another mini Ever. Essence. She was the prettiest. So was Emorey. And, Ever. Shit, I was starting to wonder if I really wanted a boy or another one of the three people standing in front of me.

“Emorey, Essence. This is Luca, Mommy’s boyfriend.”

I appreciated Ever’s honesty. She’d told me that lying was something she despised and chose not to do it herself. I figured that meant when it came to her children as well.

“Luca, these are the girls.”

“I’ve met this one,” I shared with Ever who was puzzled by the revelation. “At my mom’s center.”

I bent down and scooped Emorey into my arms. Then, I turned to Essence and watched her twiddle her thumbs in front of her. Knowing how important it was to ask permission to invade a child’s personal space because there were so manyadults who didn’t think they had the right to have personal space, I began speaking to Essence.

“Would you like to take the express ride to the movie theater?”

She nodded, granting me access. I got a bit closer, turned around, and patted my back for her to climb on. When she was finally situated and comfortable, I stood and shifted Emorey in front of me. With both girls, I began tugging down the hallway.

“Chooooo. Chooooooo.”

In a fit of laughter, the girls were delivered safely to the couch where I had the lights off and the television turned on, waiting for them to make a selection so that I could make it happen.

“Do you have popcorn, Luca?” Essence asked.

“As a matter of fact, I’ve got plenty.”

“Caramel?”

“Caramel. Sweet. Buttery. Plain. Whatever you want. And if I don’t have it, I can always get it.”

“Always?” Essence followed up with.

“Always,” I confirmed.

“I’ll take caramel. Emorey will, too.”

“OK. You know how to work this television, Essence?”

“Ummm hmmm.” She nodded.

“Good. Your mom and I will get the popcorn ready while you two choose a movie. That’s alright with y’all?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Yes, sir!” Emorey repeated after Essence.

I handed her the remote and looked up to see where Ever had gone. I found her over in the corner against the wall observing with contentment on her face that couldn’t be mistaken for anything else. Using my head, I signaled toward the kitchen where I wanted her to meet me. She nodded in return, letting me know she understood. She took off immediately.

“Be right back,” I told the girls before following behind her.

“Hi, Mommy,” I finally spoke to Ever once we were alone in the kitchen.

“Hi, Daddy,” she returned with a smile. That unleashed the beast within me.

My hands slid up her shoulders. The right one wrapped around her neck as the left lowered until her ass was in my palms. I stuck my tongue down her throat as she moaned into my mouth. My dick hardened on contact with her skin. I cupped her ass in the black pajama pants that hugged her body just like I wanted to.

“I missed the fuck outta you,” I admitted. “Come in here.”

“Come where, Luca?” She looked around.

“Right here.” I pointed to the pantry.
