“Oh, God!” She yelled out the words as Natalya hurtled her into another body-destroying orgasm.

“God isn’t here.” Natalya’s fingers dug into Evie’s skin, making her whimper. “Just me.”

She sucked at her skin, pushing inside her hard, and Evie came again, this time with a scream. Her cheeks were wet from tears, spawned by the sheer intensity of it all.

Evie cried out again and again andagainas Natalya’s fingers curled tightly inside her. The noises came out shrill and high, like pleading shrieks. When she ran out of air, they ended as a drawn-out, uneven whine that sounded like a sob.

Natalya stopped moving at the noise. She stilled completely. The hand around Evie’s throat vanished, and she pulled her fingers out of her. The loss of stimulation made Evie gasp in relief.

As Natalya stepped away, nothing held Evie up other than her own strength, and she had none of that left. With a sigh thatturned into a groan, Evie slid off the table and collapsed on the floor.

She was breathing so heavily it sounded like she’d run a marathon. Her head was filled with fog, and her muscles felt like they were made of jelly. She was sore everywhere.

It had been too much. Euphorically extreme in its intensity. Not just overwhelming but all-consuming.

She could have stopped it. She had a safe word and hadn’t used it. One reason was because Natalya needed this. Another, smaller one, had been her ego wanting to know how much she could take before ending it. But the main reason was simple. It was what had just happened. Because Evieknewthat, even when she said she wouldn’t be able to stop, Natalya wouldn’t hurt her.

She could have taken Evie harder and hadn’t. She could have bent her over the table immediately rather than tease her with touches and kisses, but she hadn’t. She was aware of Evie’s limit and, even when she was as demonic as she’d just been, would only cross it to test its rigidity.

Evie felt more than well-tested. She felt like she fucking graduated.

Her eyes were closed, and she was panting loudly enough that she couldn’t hear anything but her own breathing. And she was alone. Where was Natalya? She was gone and had left Evie on the floor.

She opened her eyes and looked around for the woman she’d thought was going to die only a few days prior. Who had staggered out of bed in such obvious pain, it had made Evie want to hug her and yell at her in equal measure. She looked for the fiend she’d given herself to.

Natalya was pressed against the nearby wall. She stared down at Evie, eyes wide and sparkling violet. The ashen, frail visageshe’d presented just a little while before was gone. In its place was a radiant goddess.

A goddess with tears in her eyes.

“I’m sorry,” Natalya whispered, shaking her head. All of her was shaking. “I’m so sorry, Evie.”

Evie pushed off the floor, sitting up to lean against the dining table. She winced as she moved, and the reaction looked like it caused Natalya physical pain.

“I’m okay,” Evie gasped.

Natalya shook her head again, agony and terror flashing over her face. The flashes became permanent when Evie started crawling towards her.

“Don’t, Evie.” She didn’t move from where she was. “You shouldn’t be near me.”

Evie was exhausted. Spent and worn out. Her body ached, and it was starting a hint of panic in her chest. Not consuming yet, but sheneededNatalya. She needed to not feel used and discarded like she’d been so many times before.

She looked up, her sight blurry from tears. Her arms were trembling.

“Please… Don’t leave me alone.”

Fear was still apparent on Natalya’s face, but the protectiveness in her shined through. She couldn’t ignore Evie asking for her like that.

She vanished in a streak of black and violet, and then she was crouched at Evie’s side, holding a blanket. She looked more worried than Evie had ever seen her.

As Natalya held out her arms, Evie collapsed against her. She leaned against Natalya, feeling the softness of the silken nightrobe and the heat of her skin. Her touch felt as it usually did. Warm and wonderful and so calming that it made Evie sigh. She hadn’t even thought to push against it. Somehow, she’d known she would be alright.

Natalya wrapped the blanket around her, pulling her into her lap. She cradled her, holding her so tenderly it reminded her of when Natalya had first embraced her in Evie’s apartment. So careful. As if Evie might break into pieces if she was held too tightly.

“I’m sorry.” Natalya’s voice was muffled as she pressed her face against Evie’s hair. “I shouldn’t have done that. I shouldneverhave done that.”

“I told you to. I didn’t stop you.” Evie sighed and leaned against Natalya, at ease as she took in the scent of her. Wonderful lavender. The panic at being left on her own, feeling sore and used, vanished with the feel of Natalya’s arms around her.

“I went too far.” Natalya squeezed her a little tighter. “I hurt you.”
