Chase collapsed onto the sheets, my dick sliding free. My cum oozed from his hole, and my eyes remained glued to it. My mouth watered, and before I knew it, my fingers were shoving it back in before licking a stripe across his opening. With a hiss, Chase bucked against the sheets before I latched on and explored deeper. The taste of my release inside of him should have been a turnoff, but for some reason I was hooked. I wanted it all. I didn’t stop until I couldn’t taste me on him anymore.
My body melted into the space next to Chase on the bed. He was warm and safe, and when my arm wrapped around him, he snuggled in until we both fell into a sated sleep.
Chapter 26
Chase
The moment I opened my eyes, I knew something was off.
My bed was empty, and it was dark. Except for Oreo's purring, the camper was quiet. My chest constricted, and I couldn’t breathe. Where the hell was Nathan? This wasn’t the actions of a man who was trying to get back in my good graces.
And then the toilet flushed.
The light streaming from the folding partition for my bathroom didn’t quite make my heart stop pounding, but I instantly relaxed. I collapsed back into the mattress and tossed my arm over my eyes. Oreo ventured from the foot of the bed and pawed at me, trying to get my attention.
The light clicked off, and the partition opened. Nathan’s outline made its way out into the dark before the bed sank next to me. He lifted my cat, nuzzling her face, and then settled her at the foot of the bed, returning to snuggle by my side.
“You’re awake?”
I huffed. “I thought you’d left.”
Nathan grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. “You have to know I’m not going to leave you like that again.”
There was that glimmer again. I couldn’t know that. I hadn’t given him the chance to prove it yet.
We lie there for a moment to soak it all in, and then he opened his damn mouth.
“You trust me.”
Did I? Where did he get that idea?
“How?”
He laughed, waving down his front. “You let me fuck you bare. Twice.”
I closed my eyes and then opened them to stare at the dirty ceiling. It was peeling and needed some repairs. I worried it would leak once it started raining again. The place had served me well over the last few years, but this wasn’t a long-term fix. Even if I was comfortable, I couldn’t live here forever.
“You’re...” I heaved a deep sigh, trying to figure out how to best form the thought. “You’re different.” Was he? It was reckless to give him that part of me, but he’d already had everything else. Why not this as well? He’d had it all from the start. Maybe he’d have it all forever.
Nathan said nothing, just trailing his fingers down my chest. Soft lips placed the most tender of kisses against my shoulder. My eyes stung with unshed tears as I tried to not think of what all thismeant. This wasn’t a hookup. I would be lying if I kept calling it that. It was hurtful, and I wasn’t the asshole who did those things.
How did you allow the person who utterly ruined you back in?
“Catch it.”
My eyes grew wide when a rag hit me on the side of my head. It fell to the floor before my gaze flittered to Nathan, who was fighting back a laugh. He still held the bottle of window cleaner as I glared at him.
“If you’re going to throw things at me, make sure I’m paying attention.”
Nathan doubled over in laughter, arms clutched around his stomach. “Maybe don’t daydream while staring out the windows. We have a job to do, remember?”
We did have a job to do, and we’d been working like a well-oiled machine since the day I’d taken him out to the tree. The tension that had simmered between us had lifted, and it was almost as if things had gone back to the way they were before he’d left. The thought of being without him again was suffocating.
“I’ll show you a job.” I stalked toward him and Nathan’s smile faded a little bit, which was quickly replaced with a smirk when I dropped to my knees.
That was the other thing.
We’d started giving in to each other a lot more often. It was so damn risky. Drew didn’t check on us anymore, but the thought that he could walk in and catch us didn’t seem to deter us. It made things feel that much hotter.
