“You’re welcome. You need to know it. It’s just scary to think that we could be sent back there.”
“Well… Is there thissorceressstill around? What is that, anyway? Is she different from a witch? If she’s not around, then it should be alright.”
Nia barely shook her head. “I don’t know if one exists today, but the conceptisreal. They’re basically a witch with immense power. Think of a full adult wolf compared to a wolf pup. That’s a sorceress and a witch. But you’re right; we haven’t had a sorceress among us in centuries. Right now, our biggest threat are the hunters, really.”
Rem looked through the windows, never realizing that a threat like a sorceress ever existed… Or did the witches hide that, too? She eyed the trees as they passed them by. These revelations made her wonder justwherethe Silvers came from. Why did women like her suddenly come into existence? Was it related to her gran? Rem had never left her village before, meaning the powers had to cometoher…
Surely, her gran would have said something, though, as it could have only come from her, right?
Looking out the windows for too long gave her a headache, the speed of the vehicle unnerving her, even though she had been told they were going rather slow.
"So, who was with Ronan when we drove off? I saw a few with him before they ran off,” Rem said, trying to glimpse one of the other trucks before needing to look away.
"His mother and sister are coming."
Rem perked up at this news. She had never imagined him as a family man, although that made sense as soon as she considered it. "His family? Are they close with each other?"
"Very. His sister is powerful and very capable. She sometimes acts as his Prime Beta when Erik isn't here. And since Erik is leading Warden while Ronan is away, his sister came instead."
"I don't know why, but that's so interesting—"
CRACK.
Rem fell out of her seat as the vehicle lost control, swerving while she grabbed onto anything that she could.
The truck rolled.

PURSUANCE AND POISON
R O N A N
Where was the Silver?
Where wasRem?
Ronan surveyed the area to gather the damage. Suna and six others were already on all fours, running towards the gunfire, the scent of foreign humans faint in the distance.
Why are the hunters all the way in here? How did they get here?
There were many things he wanted to do in that moment—check on his family, find Rem, and get everyone away from this location as fast as possible.
Ronan breathed deeply, surveying the area as he swatted a spider crawling up his leg, adrenaline surging through his veins. Four modified trucks belonged to Warden, one of them toppled over with slowly spinning wheels.
It was the one carrying Rem, and her scent was completely gone.
CRACK.
More gunfire. He snarled, his ears keen on the direction of the ballistics, but his mind still focused on the fact that he couldn't smell Rem. The echoing screams of humans mixed with the snarls of wolves, indicating his kin had found the hunters.
An ambush all the way into the mountains. This is not a good sign.
He moved forward towards Rem’s truck.
"Ronan!" his mother shouted from behind.
He turned to face her. “I cannot smell Rem,” he stated.
