Ronan's gaze followed where his sister gestured. Sure enough, the shifter from Allard’s pack—named Cillian—had transformed back into his human state to help Rem out of the truck, along with Nia and a few others.
The foreign shifter reached out a hand to help Rem down, a genuine surprise coming to her face. Ronan gritted his teeth, and he faced them fully with a glower. The hell is Cillian doing?
Suna snorted as she stood next to him. "I did hear him say he was a lover of human women. I guess that pays off with him doing those stupid human gestures," Suna retorted.
Ronan's blood simmered, and his heart pounded heavily, knowing that Cillian could smell Ronan on her, and yet he was not withholding.
"Maybe you should do more than justglare," Suna said from behind.
Ronan breathed heavily, territorial thoughts stealing his mind and heart more than he had expected. "Let him make his show,” he growled. “I'll make mine soon enough.” Ronan sat down and leaned against a tree, waiting for the Silvers to relieve themselves and stretch.
"Just mark her as yours, and don't let that idiot steal any of her attention,” his sister suggested, sitting down next to him.
The defensive side of him blatantly agreed with that suggestion. He sneered. "We’re only a few hours from home. Then it will be easier. The other Silver in there tries to catch my attention at every chance. I can’t leave them in that carriage with that kind of drama. They’re already feisty as it is with their new instincts creeping in.”
Suna seemed to ignore that entire statement. "Ah, that's right. It's a feat to gettheRonan Warden to claim someone."
He languidly looked to his sister as he said mockingly, "Should I hold your hand to help you stand up when we get up, Suna? Can you manage it all on your own?"
She snorted, which turned to laughter as she faced him. "It's cute that he bothers you. I don't see you smitten often."
He rolled his eyes.
"It's alright, Ronan, it's not like I can't see why he bothers you. I mean, I personally like Cillian’s look myself. He’s got a rough demeanor," she said.
He knew she was trying to stir his emotions. She always did this when she wanted to talk about them. Slowly, and with annoyance, he explained, “I already explained it’s not wise.”
“Yet you let Rem walk around with your scent.”
He picked the dirt out from underneath a fingernail, glaring at Cillian. “I see no issue… Sheismy Silver. It’s him who should be concerned.”
She snickered. “All I am saying is this is her destiny. She’ll be dealing with jealous bitches for a long time, so protecting her now won’t help. She'll be dealing with Jemma and her Clan, and every free male who is looking to mate will shove their noses up her ass. Andthen, apparently, a fucking war is coming. She has to swim in the darkness of the lake, whether she wants to or not. She’ll never have the choice of wading in the shoreline... Although, I think it’s sweet you’re trying to help her.”
He continued to watch in the direction that the Silvers went in, guided by Nia, whose ankles had healed enough to walk, but her wrists were still terribly injured.
Rem seemed unmarred, her wounds healed already.
Suna had a point—Rem was a natural with them. Was space even warranted?
He sighed.
Too much weighed on his heart, and for now, he needed to let it all rest. He was still unmated and needed a Luna, and these Silvers would need to pick a mate soon.
Focusing on marking that delicate neck of hers would be his priority once they returned.

"We are close,"Nia quietly said.
Rem opened her eyes and gently raised her head, wincing from a stiff neck from sleeping at an awkward angle. Loral lifted her head, too. Josie momentarily opened her eyes before closing them again, snuggling into her position.
Josie and Loral had both chosen Warden as their pack when given the chance to go wherever they pleased.
Loral decided that she highly respected the fact that Ronan came for them. For her, that meant that he was the Alpha that she wanted to serve, as Loral wasn’t interested in Allard—the only remaining Alpha available for mating. Loral said she wanted Rem to have Ronan and that being a Luna seemed stressful, so she hoped for a nice Beta.
Josie, obviously, wanted Ronan toherself.
As much as that irked Rem, her mind was elsewhere.
