“Yo, Shane. We’re out,” Zach hollers.
The ride home drains me. I need a couple of days’ worth of sleep and when Leo is waiting for us with JJ at his side, I’m praying that he hasn’t got another job for us. In my head, I’m already in my bed and crashing out.
JJ takes the holdall from Zach and he and Leo head into the bar. I’m slow to drag my ass off my bike and that’s when I see her.
The woman from the bar last night, who I woke up beside this morning. Slade is talking to her in the car and when she climbs out, it’s her phenomenal legs that hold my attention. They go on for miles and the little pair of shorts she’s wearing isn’t helping with half of her ass cheeks hanging out. At least drunk-of-my-ass me has good taste in women. She’s beautiful. I’m surprised my drunken blurred memories didn’t remind me.
“You know who that hot piece of ass is with your dad?” I ask Zach.
He looks around until he finds them, and then his jaw tightens. “I’m trying real hard to remember you haven’t been around long enough to know, but take your fuckin’ eyes off of my aunt.”
His what?
I fucked Zach’s aunt.
Fuck that, I fucked Slade’s sister.
I couldn’t care less about the family politics around here, but I do know if this woman is Slade’s sister, then she’s Harper’s mom and one of Cas’s baby momma’s.
My dick shrivels and my balls escape up into my stomach, knowing they’re going to be ripped off if anyone finds out about last night. I’ve never needed Grim around here as much as I do now, just so I have someone covering my back when this comes out.
“You okay, brother?” Zach asks.
Lying through my teeth, I say, “Yeah, just tired.”
Nothing about this is okay.
This may be the one time my dick gets me killed. I thought my biggest decision once we were back, was going to be whether to shower before falling into bed, now it’s how to get past Slade and his sister without being seen. I need to buy some time and figure out how the fuck I’m going to handle this shit show situation when it blows up.
“I haven’t seen her around. She doesn’t live in town.”
I’ve already guessed she was new to town, but I want more information on her.
“She left a while ago. She shows up, then skips town, and so on. It’s kinda her thing.”
“She doesn’t visit often?” I inquire.
Narrowing his eyes, he asks, “What’s with the inquisition? What’s it matter to you what she does?”
Stepping back and holding my hands up, I’m quick to answer, “It doesn’t, brother.”
I walk the long way round to the side door into the clubhouse and take the stairs up to my room. Once inside, I lock myself in and crash without forming a plan for Slade’s sister.
Chapter Two
Lily
My heart raced as I drove toward the Lost Souls Motorcycle Club. It was ridiculous. I had been here a thousand times throughout my life. I even conceived Harper in one of the rooms, or the bar, or out back behind the bar up against the wall, I’m not sure, but it was definitely under their roof. I was depending on the whispers I had heard about Luca being true. If he’s in Bolton, Dog City, then he wouldn’t be around to kill me. My hands tightened around the wheel as I pulled up to the club.
“Who are you here to see?” the guy manning the gates asked.
Another new prospect I have no intention in getting to know. I wonder how many young men have worn the prospect’s patch since the club began.
“Slade.”
“Does he know you?”
“I’m his sister. Please, open the gate. I haven’t got all day.”
