“I knew you’d be in the fuckin’ middle of this,” JJ snaps.

Slade’s disappointment is quickly overridden by his worry for Kristen sat with Harper and JJ’s kid.

JJ gives zero fucks as he pushes through the Hogs and collects his old lady. He ushers Kristen to Slade and between them, they both leave and return once their old ladies are out of the diner. Hopper watches on with keen interest but doesn’t comment.

Everyone watches each other, but I watch Lily. She’s trembling and no one seems to give a shit. She meets my eye and offers a small smile.

“I don’t remember getting a call to say you wanted to come to town,” Leo grunts.

“I’m only here for my old lady.”

Not one Lost Soul is surprised Lily is the old lady of our enemy. Slade steps forward and pulls his sister to his side.

Hopper goes to yank her back to him when Slade draws his gun and aims it straight for him, warning, “She ain’t goin’ anywhere.”

“Yeah, she is and so is my money.” He looks to Lily and adds, “You know what I’m talking about, don’t you, baby.”

Lily says nothing and keeps her eyes cast down at the floor. Guilt radiates off of her.

“Regardless, she ain’t goin’ anywhere if she doesn’t want to,” Slade argues, shoving her behind him.

“Slade, brother,” Leo murmurs. “She’s his old lady, she’s his business.”

Lily clutches to the back of Slade’s cut and Slade looks like he wants to argue, which he does. “Leo, she’s…”

“…Not our problem,” Leo finishes for him, though I’m pretty sure that’s not what Slade was going to say.

Leo’s technically not wrong, but this isn’t right. We can’t let them take her. It’s obvious she’s in trouble and doesn’t want to leave with them. She’s scared of him.

“Listen to your president, hand her over.”

“She ain’t a lump of fuckin’ meat.”

“Funny, I’m gonna kick her around like she is. Teach her her place once again.”

Slade seethes but Leo doesn’t change his mind. Lily catches my eye and mouths, Help.

The big fucker, Iron according to his patch, glances down at me and before Hopper can get his hands on Lily, I smash my fist into his face. He could have the grace to fall back on his ass like most men I punch, but the giant stumbles and shakes it off.

“What the fuck?” He dabs his nose and stares at the blood. “Motherfucker.”

A fight breaks out and I laugh as he throws his weight toward me. Hog assholes join in and before I know it, the diner is a free for all with the general public running for the exit.

Since my punches aren’t knocking him out, I reach for the chair from the nearest table and swing it over his head. I glance around and Leo is ordering Lily to get her ass back to the club. She runs for the door and disappears.

I lose my sight for a few seconds and realise the giant asshole still didn’t go down. I can’t use my gun here so what the fuck is it going to take to bring him down?

I throw my fists right and left, his cheekbone shatters under my knuckles, yet the fucker still isn’t down on his ass. I go for the crown jewels and still, the fucker keeps coming at me. I dodge his heavy blows easily enough, being smaller than him is in my advantage.

The sound of police sirens grows louder and it’s not until Leo hollers for us to pull back that the sheriff and her deputies storm the diner.

The big fucker spins and draws his gun on deputy dick and is hit with a taser. The fucker’s lucky he hasn’t been shot. Since there aren’t any more guns in the picture, the police don’t hold back. Within minutes, every one of us are cuffed and sat on a chair, dotted around the diner like naughty children.

“Deputy, take our new friends down to the station.”

Iron glares at me as he’s led outside and I grin, blowing him a kiss. Asshole.

“I don’t suppose anyone’s going to tell me what happened here today?” the sheriff asks no one in particular. When she doesn’t get an answer, she turns to Hank Jr.
