Or it would be dank and damp in here.
Fortunately, there were more fireplaces in this castle than in most homes, and the main ones did all the heavy lifting when it came to staying warm.
Hearing his request, Graham was excited to have some company.
Another single man to talk to?
Sign him up.
It didn’t make him feel so damn lonely. Don’t get him wrong, he loved Gryphen and Ian, but it was a constant reminder that he had no one to protect his heart.
It had been brutal to watch that lovey-dovey shit.
As for this man, he knew what it felt like to have his heart ripped from his chest from a breakup gone bad.
“Sure, Lad! Come in and get you some. Where are my manners today? Oh, I know. I’m trying to figure out if I forgot to get a permit.”
Finn laughed and patted him on the back. This had nothing to do with permits, and everything to do with the new owners, and he knew it.
Together, the two men headed toward the island, and Finn looked around.
And whistled.
Well, holy shit!
It was damn nice in this renovated kitchen.
“Someone has dumped a lot of money into this drafty old castle. Are those real marble countertops?” he asked, knowing how much it cost to remodel his kitchen, and it was a third of the size of this one.
He laughed.
“Yes, yes, they did, and yeah, the owners had a specific vision for the castle.”
And that was all he said.
For a good reason.
Taking a seat, Finn McKnight waited for the cup to be placed in front of him, so he could warm up.
When it was, he sipped it.
“Thank you, Lad. This hit the spot. It’s a might chilly out this morning.”
“It’ll warm up. The sun is going to be out today,” he admitted.
The chitchat continued, but Graham was hella curious as to what all of this was about. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t.
Leaning on the counter, Graham waited for the man to enjoy his coffee, and then, they’d get down to facts. He could tell something was on his mind.
Honestly, Graham hoped that the local police weren’t going to be testy and up his ass over the remodel. The Blackhawks adhered to the rules.
They paid for permits, paid the contractors, and promised not to alter the outside of the castle for historical reasons.
That was pretty helpful, and they were willing to bend.
If the council pissed on this…
That would suck.
