They were trying to work here, and now Jagger had to try not to laugh.

He’d tell them behave, but he and Maura weren’t that far from the two mercenaries.

They were so close that the big man walked right past them tucked away.

The men kept talking.

“Von needs that money. The BlackStone Grouphas to balance the books. Fifty million is a lot, and Von wants to make an example of the dead man. You don’t steal from him. If we find it, he’ll calm his ego down, and we’ll all be okay.”

The American shrugged.

“Well, if the team didn’t fuck it up and let that limey bastard steal it, we wouldn’t be playing this game. I liked our friends. I didn’t want to kill my brothers. Well, except the pilot. He caused all this. There’s always a goodie two-shoes in the mix.”

Maura glanced over at Jagger, and he lifted a brow. It seemed they were getting some good intel. MATE was recording everything they were saying, so they could go over it later.

Now, if they’d just tell them where to find Von, then maybe they could start taking out the trash.

As they were standing prone, MATE spoke in their ears again. This time, to warn them.

“They are approaching,” MATE warned. “They are going to discover Maura’s position in three, two, one,” she stated.

Well, her husband had a problem with that.

Instead of letting her be found, he outed himself to draw their attention.

That’s when Jagger stepped out of the shadows, and took down the one guy.

He hit him hard, fast, and leveled him before the American guy even knew what was happening.

That was one down.

When Maura stepped out, the British dude paused, caught off-guard.

“Hey, my guy. We need to talk,” she said, flipping out a knife, ready for hand-to-hand.

Unfortunately, she didn’t get to have any fun.

The coward took off.

Only, they were ready for him.

When he went to escape, he ran smack dab into Zayn coming through the door. The big guy clotheslined him to the throat, and he fell to the floor.

With.

A.

Thud.

Beside him stood the two Snakes. As the guy went flat to his back, Jinx, stood on him, her boot on his neck.

“I hate when they run,” Jinx said.

Eve picked up the guys arm and dropped it.

“He’s out cold. You leveled him.”

Zayn shrugged.
