What the hell?

That was his favorite place to be in Europe. How did the man randomly pull that out of the air?

“Got it, Poe?” he asked.

He reassured him.

“I understand, Gamble,” he stated.

The man gave him a kiss goodbye, holding him a little longer than he’d planned. Then, he set him free, and started toward the way out.

And when he was gone, Poe moved closer to the fire to tend to it.

He knew it was going to feel like forever for the man to get back.

Then it hit him.

New Orleans

Wednesday Afternoon

The Major wasNOTamused. The men were driving around, and Maura wasn’t one hundred percent sure they weren’t made. On top of that, they were burning daylight, and that was annoying.

Maybe it was the hormones, but it was taking forever to get to the second dead man’s home.

For now, they had to hope it was sooner, rather than later.

It was already later into the afternoon, and they had to get back to base and hope that they had coordinates to make a night assault on the one Marine who was still alive.

They needed a witness to this bullshit, so they could see what the hell was going on.

“I’m getting annoyed,” Jagger admitted. “More so than usual. Do you think they’re fucking with us?” he asked, glancing down at his watch.

That was a good question.

As for getting pissy…

She understood that.

So.

Was.
