Poe stared into his eyes.
“It’s the same with a female. You know what you like, so assume I like the same.”
Well, that was all he had to hear. He liked to be touched, caressed, and loved.
The mission was at hand.
Kissing him again, Gamble let his hands wander across Poe’s body, and he shook. Honestly, he didn’t believe Poe was shaking from the cold. It was comfortable in that cave.
That gave him a thrill that he was the reason for the tremors moving through his body.
His hands went to the belt on his jeans, and he flicked it open without even having to look.
The whole time, the man straddling his lap was pressed to his own body, and Gamble was hard.
He didn’t see Poe as a guy.
He saw Poe as someone who lovingly put him back together again.
That was all that mattered to Gamble. His gender didn’t. It was the times he made him food, coaxed him into a tub, and when he gave him a horse to heal his soul.
It was all of the times that they laughed, read a book at night, or watched a movie after tending their horses. It was the peace that came with the healing that he fell in love with, and that only came from Poe.
It was the times spent laughing, and how scared he was when Poe didn’t come up in the water to the relief when he saved him.
This was what love was for Gamble. It was every single moment when the man stayed by his side, when it was easier to quit on him.
And he never did.
Not once did he ever stop fighting for him.
This man was his hero.
As Gamble got his pants undone, Poe knew what was next, and he only hoped that being with him wasn’t going to be a problem.
This was his first gay experience, and Poe didn’t want it to damage the man.
This was about trust for both of them.
As he slid his hands to his hips, Poe knew what he wanted him to do.
Gamble wanted him out of his pants.
So, he broke the kiss.
“Are you sure about this?” he said. “Be sure, Gamble. There’s no going back from it.”
Oh, he was sure.
“Are you telling me you want me to stop?” Gamble asked, praying that wasn’t the case. He was hard, felt things he believed to be dead, and was safe with Poe.
The man was honest.
“I’ve never wanted anything more than this moment with you,” he admitted. “It’s my one wild adventure in my life. You’re my adventure, Gamble.”
The man’s heart skipped.
God.
