Instead of answering him I step around him and line up to start my climb again. "Stop gossiping and get to work," I grumble.
He laughs as he steps up to the track beside me. "I didn't know you were seeing someone."
"I'm not."
"But, you fucked."
"I never said that." I say as I reach for a grip but miss and endup swinging around with only my left hand and foot on the wall.
Felix’s eyes go wide in shock, "And you've never missed a grip before so c'mon man, spill the tea!"
"Spill the tea?"
"It means gossip."
"I know that, I just didn't expect you to use the phrase."
"I've been trying to add to my vocabulary," he states. "I've got a word of the day calendar."
"Andspill the teais part of your education?"
"No, but at least I'm trying to expand my thinking."
"I invented a freaking AI news service." I say indignantly as I reach for the grip again and get it. Fuck yeah.
"Right, but you did it to prove your dad wrong."
"Well, I'm motivated by competition," I grunt as I make another stretch for a grip and get it. I'm hitting my stride as I start to feel more agitated with Felix Fournier and his questions.
"Is that why you're racing to pull a muscle?"
"Fuck off man."
"No thank you, but I will talk about who you fucked last night."
"This morning," I mumble under my breath before regretting it.
"THIS MORNING!?" Felix yells and again I look around the gym for anyone who notices. A few heads turned.
"Will you shut up!" I hiss as I move sideways closer to him. "Okay, fine, you're right, I hooked up with someone; this morning."
"Who?"
"Can't say."
"You don't know her name? Morning sex is intimate and you did it with some rando?"
"No, I can'ttellyou her name." She certainly knows mine though. I feel my palms start to sweat when I remember how she said my name. Many, many, times this morning, over the course of her three orgasms.
"Is it a secret?"
"Yeah, she doesn't want people knowing we're together. Well, not together really, it's like a sex arrangement."
"Fuck buddies, I get it." Felix nods as we move up the wall next to each other.
"Minus the buddies part, she's been very clear that we're not friends." Although her confession before I left seems like something she'd only tell me if she had put trust in me. Maybe she’s starting to see me as a friend.
"But you want to be more than friends? Err, wait, no, you want to add friendship to the fucking? That's like backwards from how it usually goes isn't it?"
