“Yeah, that engine is shot,” Brady announces, stepping over to us. “I’ll call one of our guys to come pick it up and take it to the shop.”
“The shop?” I groan. “I just took the damn thing in a few days ago. And now this? Fucking hell,” I sigh, closing my eyes as I tip my head back to the sky.
“Where did you go before?” he asks.
“Some place on Wiltons. Robby’s Wrench, I think it was called.”
Both of the men snort, amused by my answer. “That's why,” Gavin says. “That place is a money pit. I wouldn’t put it past them to have known you needed more done to your car than whatever they supposedly fixed in hopes that it would break down, forcing you to spend more money than you would have in the first place.”
My lips part in shock. “You’re fucking kidding me,” I growl, my face morphing in anger. “Fucking bastards. Can you give me a ride?”
“Where to? Home?” Gavin asks.
“No. To that damn shop so I can kick the fucker in the nuts for doing this bullcrap to me. Low life scum.”
“Well, aren't you just a little spitfire?” Brady chuckles, his grin also doing stupid things to my stomach.
“Isn’t she wonderful?” Gavin says, with a smooth voice that sends a shiver down my spine.
That’s it, these two have to have some sort of magical powers because I can’t see any other reason why I’m so damn affected by them.
“She’s something.” Brady takes a long moment, his eyes trailing up and down my body.
I cross my arms over my chest. Not because I didn’t want him checking me out, but because I don’t want him to see how hard my nipples are right now.
“She can hear you, you know?” I huff, but there’s amusement in my tone. It leaves the moment I think about how much all of this is going to cost me. “Damn it!” I sigh heavily again. “There’s no way I’m going to be able to afford the tow and the repairs. Do you think they can just bring my car to Calling Wood? I can leave it in one of the student parking lots until I can get it fixed. Just means Rick’s going to have to play taxi,” I mutter.
“Rick?” Brady’s voice deepens, taking on a darker tone.
“Yeah. He’s my guard.” I look down at the dead phone in my hand. “You two wouldn’t happen to have a phone charger on you, would you? If so, I can just call him, then you two wouldn’t even have to worry about helping me. He can handle it, and I can stop taking up your time.”
“None of this is a bother to us,” Gavin insists. “We were just getting off work and heading home for the night. That means we have nothing but time.”
“Guard?” Brady growls softly. “You some kind of famous person? Some rich prick’s little girl?”
“No,” I snort. “Sure, my dad is a prick. Well, there are more colorful things I can call him, but it’s not very ladylike of me. And, no, I’m not some famous person. Just a student attending Calling Wood University. All unmated Omegas have a guard to help keep them safe, just as a precaution.”
Gavin’s eyes spark to life. “So, what I’m hearing is… you're single?”
“He just let you go on your own?” Brady grunts.
I blink between the two of them, trying to follow two completely different conversations.
My eyes flick back to Brady. “Yes. Because I’m a twenty-five-year-old adult and I can take care of myself,” I sass him, before turning my attention back to Gavin with a smirk curling my lips. “And yes, I am single.”
The brothers share a look with one another, one that has me on edge but also fills me with a small thrill.
“Don’t worry about the money,” Brady says. “We own our own shop on the other side of town. Devil’s Auto. We’ll get it towed and fixed up for you, free of charge.”
That has me raising a brow. “Nothing in this world is free,” I state. “So what's the catch?”
A smile curves on his lips, letting me know I played right into his trap. “I mean, I wouldn’t say no to a date.”
“Sorry, brother, I already staked my claim on this one,” Gavin interjects.
“I don’t see any reason why you can’t share, brother,” Brady counters, his eyes still locked on mine. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
That shouldn’t have been arousing; he just admitted he was a slut with his brother.
