“What...what do you mean?”

“Exactly what I said.” He gripped my chin and yanked my mouth against his. He kissed me long and hard, making me taste the remnants of my juices.

My mouth widened for him, and I kissed him like he was mine. Like it was the type of shit we were supposed to be doing.

“I’m glad you’re home safe.” He opened the door and met Trace on the other side. I didn’t look his way.

Fuck, this is so embarrassing.

“Don’t worry,” Shade said. “My boy is good. As far as he’s concerned, nothing happened here.”

“You sure about that?”

“One hundred percent.”

Feeling like I could trust him, I nodded. But I had to be sure of one more thing. “Well, seeing as we didn’t go any further, I think we should keep it that way. This can’t ever happen again.”

Shade smirked. “It didn’t go any further because this isn’t the way I want to have you for the first time. But I meant what I said about not letting up.” He placed his hand against my cheek. “Just so we’re clear, I’ll never do anything you don’t want me to do. But I’m damn sure going to do any and everything that you’ll allow me to. So, if you don’t want this to happen again, I suggest you do something to keep it from happening. Leave it to me, and it will happen every fucking night.”

My mouth dropped. I could tell from the heated look in his eyes that he was dead ass serious.

I sighed. “Shade, I’m with someone.”

“I know.”

“You don’t care about that?”

“Shit, do you?”

I froze.

He planted a soft kiss on my forehead. “Goodnight, Nyx. Get some sleep.”

Before I could respond, he was out of my face and headed down the hall.

Shaking my head, I whispered, “I have definitelyfucked up.”

SHADE

“I still don’t understand why you decided to stay on campus instead of just staying with me,” I told Jassi as I pulled a box from the back of the moving truck.

“Because I don’t want to live with you. You’ll be all up in my business and trying to control everything.” She glanced over her shoulder at the guys who were carrying boxes into her apartment. “The fact that you brought your two goons to help us move is a perfect example. I could’ve hired movers, you know?”

“Relax, bestie,” Xandie said as she squeezed my sister’s shoulder. “I have no complaints about the help. I love watching fine men lift shit.”

“Calm your hormones,” Jassi muttered.

“I’m just saying, let’s not complain about the eye candy.” She smirked, eyes trailing over the guys before shifting to the small crowd that was forming on the sidewalk. “Also, having your brother here is perfect. Do you know how popular we’re about to be on this campus? Not only are people going to be sucking up to us because they know we’ve got connections. But our connections are going to get us into all the parties.” She winked at a boy who was aiming his phone in our direction. When hecaught her looking, he winked back and mumbled something. “Oh, damn, he’s kind of cute, and I think he just asked me for my number. I’ll be back.”

I glared at Jassi. “Please don’t let her horny ass get you in trouble.”

“Relax. I’ll be fine.”

“Yeah, okay.” We stepped into the apartment, and I placed the box down on the floor. “How about you start unpacking. I know you. All this shit will end up sitting in your living room for weeks.”

“Whatever. I got this,” she scoffed. “You know you not fooling anybody, right? You’re just doing all this so you can scope out the scene and give me a list of things you don’t want me to do while I’m here.”
