“A man will do anything for the right woman. I’m sure that Alauni chick has issues, and you have no problem dealing with her.”
“Let’s not talk about her. Let’s just keep this about us.”
“Fine, say what I told you, and this will all go away. I’ll go away.”
I paused for a moment.
On one hand, I was fine with telling her what she wanted to hear, but for all I knew, her ass was probably recording me. I couldn’t risk her finding a way to twist my words. “I’m sorry, Maxine. I'm not saying that shit.”
“Why not? It’s the truth.”
“No, it isn’t the truth. I’m done with this entire conversation. I know it’s not what you want to hear, but I didn’t want to have a child with you.”
“Law—”
“No, we’re done here. I thought we could talk this thing through, but clearly, I was wrong. You and I weren’t meant to be together, so please stay away from me. Matter of fact, don’t even breathe in my direction. If you do, I’m going to turn your ass in.”
“To who? My father isn’t going to believe a word that comes out of your mouth.”
“Well, that’s just a risk I’m going to have to take. At the end of the day, I don’t have time for the bullshit. I should have listened to every warning I ever got about you. But, no, I allowed my eyes and my dick to get me into some shit that I damn near can’t get out of. But I’m done with that. Do what the hell you want, but know that I’m going to get your ass if you do anything to fuck with Alauni. I may not be a cop anymore, but I still know quite a few people.”
“Yeah, well, they all answer to my father.”
Giving her a smirk, I eased forward. “Oh, you think I’m talking about legit people, huh? Nah, I’m talking about the ones that don’t like your father. The ones that have a grudge bigger than New York City and are just waiting for the right moment to stick it to his ass. What would be better than getting their grimy hands on his precious daughter?”
Her eyes widened, and the lump in her throat was so visible that I could push it down with my bare hands. “Yeah, so I suggest you back the hell off and do what I’ve been telling you to do repeatedly…move the fuck on!”
I didn’t stick around to give her another opportunity to piss me off. Enough was enough. I was done playing nice. If she wanted to mess with me, I would show her just how bad of a move that was, and she would live to regret it.
Then again, maybe she wouldn’t.

Alauni
There was no better feeling then being able to lay across my man’s chest and bask in the feel of him rubbing my ass. Something about a booty rub just felt so damn good. I couldn’t explain it, but I was more than happy to be in this one spot all night. I lucked up and got a call from my mom about keeping Layne for the night. Something about a movie night that she had promised her.
At first, I said no, seeing as we had plans of our own tomorrow. Not to mention, it felt like my baby girl had been gone way too much. It was almost like she was trying to stay away from me. My mother told me not to read too much into it, but I couldn't help it. My own daughter was avoiding me, and it was all because of this situation with her father. Clearly, I couldn’t put off talking to him anymore.
Pushing back my thoughts, I lifted my head and asked Law, “How did it go at Keyon’s fitting today? Did he find the tux that he wanted?”
“He did. I actually thought it was going to take a while since his ass is so damn picky, but he knew what he wanted right off the bat. We weren’t even in there more than forty-five minutes.”
“That’s good.”
“Yeah, my nephew is going to be clean as hell.”
“I bet. Make sure you take plenty of pictures for me.”
“I will,” he replied. “But, you could always come see him in person.”
“Um…no,” I said, lowering my head back down to his chest. “I’m not trying to be all up in your family’s mix like that. Besides, Keyon is the only one that really knows about our involvement. I want to keep it that way.”
“Oh, damn, so you’re ashamed of me now?”
Knowing that he was just being silly, I chuckled. “You know that’s not the case. But I do want to keep our personal life discreet. Everyone doesn’t need to know what we have going on.”
“What if I want everyone to know what we have going on?”
