“Yes, I do. I don’t want to complicate your life or mine, so I’m going to do us both a favor and just leave you the hell alone. We’re coworkers, so let’s just keep it that way. Have a good evening, Coach Montgomery,” she said, strolling away.

I was so happy to be away from that damn prom and back at my apartment. My feet felt like they were on fire and my dress was starting to hug me in all of the wrong places.

Clearly, I had one too many pieces of shrimp and whatever else was in the damn buffet line. But I couldn’t resist the opportunity to stuff my face with whatever Marsha Blanks had cooked up in the kitchen. When I heard that she was catering the prom I was more than a little pleased. She cooked damn good catfish, and I don’t eat everyone’s catfish. Thankfully, it was one of the menu options tonight and I didn’t hesitate to grab me a plate or two. Anything to keep me focused on something besides Law, who kept his eyes on me for most of the night.

Did I probably make the dumbest decision of my life by not taking him back? Of course. But the deed was done. There was no turning back.

Pulling the bobby pins from my hair, I headed towards my bedroom. I couldn’t wait to get out of my dress, which wasn’t easy since the zipper was at the lower part of my back.

What the hell was I thinking when I picked this thing out?

This would have been the perfect time to have Law here. Then, I wouldn’t have to do this shit on my own. Knowing him, he would’ve ripped off my dress before we made it in the door good.

As soon as my dress hit the floor, a text came through on my phone.

It was Law.

“Open the door.” –Law

I jerked my head back before replying.“Why?” –Alauni

“Just do it.” –Law

I should have told his ass no, but I didn’t. I went straight to the door, wearing nothing but the sparkling white panty and bra set that I had purchased to match my dress. At first, I didn’t know why I went through so much trouble, but after seeing the way Law looked at me once I opened the door, I quickly knew.

Pretending to be unbothered, I said, “What are you doing here?”

“You know exactly why I’m here,” he replied, his eyes on everything but my face.

I didn’t know what turned me on more, the fact that he just showed up out of the blue, or the fact that he was looking at me like he wanted to spread me across the kitchen table.

Who am I kidding? It was definitely both.

“No, I don’t. But feel free to tell me.”

Finally looking me in the eyes, he forced his way through the door and closed it behind him. “I tried to go along with what you said, but the shit isn’t working.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Us not being together. I tried, but it doesn’t work for me.”

“That’s interesting seeing as you’re the one that put it out there first.”

“Yeah, but I’m also the one that tried to make it clear that it wasn’t what I wanted, but you weren’t trying to hear it.”

“First of all, you chose to make your new feelings known at a high school prom. You could have done that shit sooner. Second, I don't think it's a good idea for me to be standing here half-naked while having this conversation.” I turned to walk away, but with one arm, Law swept me up from the floor and planted me on the edge of the kitchen table.

Before I could question his intentions, he was on his knees and sliding my panties down to my feet. Once they hit the floor, he returned his head between my legs and wrapped my thighs around his neck.

“I don’t need you to go anywhere,” he whispered. “I need you to listen to why I’m here.”

I was all ears, but I had no idea how he was going to talk while being inches away from my pussy. That would take some serious multitasking.

Lowering my gaze, I said, “What is it you want to say, Law?”
