I stare up at the glass ceiling, taking in the sun and the clouds. A perfectly beautiful day.
Nina pulled herself up slightly, and her face hovered in perfect view. I couldn't help but stare, realizing that I loved her. And I thought it would have scared me. But I didn't. I stared at her, knowing I would never love someone the way I did her. I would never want someone like I wanted her. And that was because Nina was my mate.
Chapter 19 - Nina
I woke up to the sound of music playing in the distance. Groaning, I rolled over and looked at the time on my clock. It was just a little past eight. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to understand what was happening.
I crawled out of bed, slipped out of my room, and went into the hallway. I looked over the edge of the railing into the kitchen. The music was coming in that direction, but not really from the kitchen. I glanced towards the greenhouse and found Frank. His back was to me.
I rubbed my eyes and turned, heading down the stairs and towards the greenhouse. I stopped in the doorway when I noticed Frank watering the plants. He had music playing from my stereo in the left corner. It was soft music, and I felt my mouth drop open slightly.
He hummed to the beat of the music, and as he moved, I watched his shoulders shake slightly. I wouldn't say he was dancing, but moving to the beat. I almost laughed if I wasn't so stunned at everything.
He turned, and when his eyes landed on me, he froze. “Oh, you're awake.”
I blinked, still speechless. I tried to think, but I was still half asleep.
“I made coffee.” He pointed to the kitchen. “And I made you an omelet for breakfast.”
I rubbed at my forehead and shook my sleep off. “What are you doing?”
“Watering the plants.” He waved a hand. “You have a busy day today, don't you?
I did. Over the past month, since Frank and I slept together, I have been trying to focus on bettering my life in the pack. I had dived deep into my new job and started branching out. I joined a book club with Jillian that we went to one night a week, and I'd been trying to find other things to do to invest myself in the town.
Frank had tried to be more open. He'd been nicer around the house and helpful with things I enjoyed. He'd bought me new plants for the greenhouse. He left me notes when he was going to be out late and updated me throughout the day about whatever he was doing.
“I do have a busy day.” I had work in the morning, and then Sam and I were going to go baby shopping for clothes. I knew it was a little early for shopping, but she was explaining I should look. That maybe it would help me think of a theme for the nursery because dark and dungeon weren't appropriate, and I couldn't disagree.
“I need coffee,” I said as I turned and stepped back towards the kitchen.
“One cup,” Frank yelled back, and I sighed. Another part of Frank was watching what I did. I knew it was out of care for the baby. He'd been reading up on things, which I couldn't help but feel a little happy about.
I poured myself a cup and sat down with my breakfast at the island. I was taking a bite of the omelet when Frank walked into the kitchen. “I was wondering if you still have your stuff in storage?”
My eyebrows went up. “Some. Some of it's in the greenhouse.”
I had gone through it, decided what was most important to me, and got rid of what I could part with. But there was somefurniture, like my bed and dresser, that my mother gave me and that I wanted to keep.
“We have a storage above the garage. We can move some things around.”
I paused my hands and looked at him. “Wait, are you saying I can move my stuff in?”
“I'm saying I want you to feel more comfortable, and that we can rearrange some areas. Like your bedroom.”
My eyebrows went up. “Really? You're not going to have a cow about that?”
He frowned. “I'm trying to be nice here. Do you want to move things in or not?”
I nodded. “But do you have space in the garage for everything else? I didn't even know you had storage above there.”
He nodded. “Yeah, we have tons of storage up there. A lot of old family furniture.”
My interest was piqued. “Would you mind showing me?”
Frank nodded, and we headed outside. We went around the garage until we got to a door in the back. Frank opened it, and it led to a flight of stairs. We went up then, and once on the second floor, Frank flipped the light on.
The entire upstairs was filled with light, and my eyes widened, taking in rows of furniture. There were mirrors and bed frames. There were dressers and vanities. Different styles and woods. You could tell there were sets made, and dust coated everything.
