I stand at the head of the large conference table. “Alright, everyone. As you know, I've been working to analyze our current marketing efforts and identify areas where we can improve. Today, I'm excited to share with you my comprehensive plan that will not only revitalize our marketing strategies but also streamline our budget, ensuring our company remains competitive in this ever-changing market.” A hush falls over the room. I glance down at my prepared notes, pausing for a moment to center myself before diving into the details of the proposal. “Let's begin.” My gaze sweeps the room, taking in everyone that has gathered for the meeting. Among them is Dixon, the new CEO, with a conservative reputation. “I’m confident that my plan will not only enhance our marketing strategies but also improve our financial situation.”

As I launch into the presentation, I dissect the company's current marketing efforts, pinpointing areas of weakness and missed opportunities. The colleagues listen, their expressions are easy to red—except for Dixon, who remains stoic, his arms crossed over his chest.

“By reallocating resources and tightening our budget,” I continue, “we can invest in more targeted campaigns thatwill yield better results, giving us the edge we need in this competitive market.”

A murmur of approval ripples through the room, but Dixon remains unmoved, his expression unreadable. What is going on inside his head?

“Dixon, I'd love to hear your thoughts on my proposal.”

For a moment, he hesitates, his brow furrowing as he considers the question. Dixon speaks up. “While I appreciate the effort you've put into this plan, Chloe, I have concerns about the potential consequences of such drastic budget cuts. We don't want to compromise the quality of our work or our long-term growth.”

A spark of irritation erupts at his skepticism. Still, I need to address his concerns head-on. “I understand your concerns, sir,” I reply, my voice firm but respectful. “However, I believe that by making these bold changes, we'll be positioning ourselves for even greater success in the future.” As our eyes meet once more, an unexpected flicker of attraction flutters through my chest. But now is not the time to dwell on such feelings; I need to stay focused and win over Dixon—and the rest of the room—with the plan. “Let me show you how we can achieve our goals without sacrificing quality.”

Dixon raises a well-groomed eyebrow, his skepticism clear as he studies my proposal. “I must admit, I'm not convinced,” he begins, leaning back in his chair. “These budget cuts might have negative long-term effects on our business.”

I clench my jaw, resisting the urge to roll my eyes. “Our competitors are evolving and finding new ways to reach their target audiences. If we don't adapt, we'll be left behind. The budget cuts are a necessary part of that adaptation.”

As I speak, my hands move, emphasizing each point. The passion for my plan is palpable, and I refuse to let Dixon’s conservative nature hold us back. “Think about it—by reallocating resources from underperforming areas to those with greater potential for growth, we can ensure not only our survival but also our continued success in the market.”

He rubs his chin, a hint of amusement in his eyes. “You don't lack conviction, but I still worry about the unforeseen consequences of such drastic cuts.”

I bite the inside of my cheek, patience wearing thin. This is a battle worth fighting. “Every decision we make comes with risks. However, I believe the benefits of my plan far outweigh those risks. We need to be proactive, not reactive, in order to thrive in this competitive market.”

The two of us continue our verbal sparring match, each determined to prove the validity of our respective viewpoints. And though I know the stakes are high — both professionally and personally — the exhilarating thrill of engaging in such a spirited debate with someone who challenges me so completely.

“Alright, I'm willing to entertain the idea. But I want to be sure we're not jeopardizing our future for short-term gains.”

“I’m certain we can find the right balance to ensure the company's success.”

As the meeting adjourns, satisfaction rushes through me from standing my ground. But more than that, intrigued by the man who dares to challenge me—and wondering what other surprises Dixon Myers might have in store.

Papers scatter across my immaculate desk, the pen poised like a weapon, ready to strike at any moment.

“Chloe, are you coming to lunch?” John asks, peeking into the office.

“Not today. I need to finish this proposal.”

“Alright, but don't work too hard,” he calls out before disappearing down the hall.

I sigh, knowing full well that “working too hard” is my middle name. Despite my dedication to the job, there is one thing that threaten to distract me: Dixon Myers. Even thinking his name sends a shiver down my spine, equal parts excitement and frustration.Focus, Chloe!I try to shove thoughts of Dixon to a dark corner of my mind. But it isn't easy. The image of his charming smile and those piercing brown eyes haunt me. I steal glances at him when we cross paths in the break room or have a meeting together.Ugh, why does he have to be so... captivating? I fight the urge to slam my head against the desk. This is not how things are supposed to go. I pride myself on the ability to separate my personal life from my professional one, but Dixon is throwing a wrench into my balanced world.Okay, think about something else.Think about the numbers, the graphs, the... the smell of coffee brewing in the break room.

“Chloe?”

I jump, startled by the sudden intrusion. Opening my eyes, I am face to face with none other than Dixon Myers himself.

“Sorry, didn't mean to scare you,” he says, grinning. “I just wanted to see if you had a minute to discuss the new marketing strategy.”

“Of course.” I try to focus on the words coming out of his mouth, but all I can think about is how close he is standing.

“Are you alright?”

“Y-yes, sorry,” I stammer, shaking my head. “Let's go over to the marketing strategy, shall we?”
