Amy’s voice cut through the haze. “Lucy, you don’t look so good. Are you sure you’re all right?”
Shaking my head, my voice was breathy. “Actually, I don’t feel so well.”
Preston, the bastard, feigned concern, addressing my grandfather. “Your Majesty, would it be all right for Lucy and me to be excused? I think she’s feeling a bit under the weather.”
I couldn’t dare to meet anyone’s eyes, hunched over, right on the edge, clenching my teeth against the overwhelming urge to let go and succumb to my impending release.
“Yes, yes, of course.” I barely heard Grandfather’s voice over the roar of blood in my ears.
Just as he granted us permission to leave, the vibrations ceased, and I placed a hand on my chest as I took in shaky breaths. Sweat had formed on my skin due to the exertion required to keep my climax at bay.
A hand came down on my shoulder, and I nearly jumped out of my skin.
“It’s all right, darling. I’ll have you upstairs and in bed before you know it.” Preston’s voice was smooth as silk as he played the doting fiancé. Helping me out of my chair onto shaky legs, he slipped an arm around my waist to keep me steady before addressing the rest of the room. “I’m sorry to have ruined what promised to be a lovely evening.”
My dad gave me a sympathetic look, speaking for everyone, “Don’t bother yourself too much about it. Just make sure Lucy gets the rest she needs.”
We were barely out of earshot when I heard Grandfather remark, “I certainly hope it isn’t contagious. It wouldn’t do to have the entire wedding party sick for the big day.”
Preston chuckled under his breath as we cleared the dining room, but I elbowed his side, gritting out, “You are so dead.”
Walking me carefully back to our apartment, he teased, “Oh, come on. That was hands-down the most entertaining dinner I’ve been to here at the palace.”
“I’m so glad you had fun.” My words dripped with sarcasm.
Reaching the entrance to our apartment, he opened the door, not allowing me to enter before whispering in my ear, “Don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun to be had this evening, Princess.”
Damn him. Damn him and the way he could melt my insides with a single word.
Prepared to give him the tongue-lashing he deserved for his behavior at dinner, I never got the chance as he pulled me through the door, kicking it closed and using his body to pin mine against the wall.
I opened my mouth to tell him to go to hell, but he took that opportunity to claim my mouth in a punishing kiss, and I cursed my body for reacting. I wished for the dominant side of Preston to come back out to play only earlier this evening, and here he was. I guess I should have been more careful about what I wished for.
Or maybe not. It felt so damn good to let him take control.
His strong body pressed into mine, restricting how far my chest could expand to draw in air, and I felt lightheaded, but my panties were drenched. Without warning, he stepped back enough that I was able to draw a huge gulp of air. Grabbing a fistful of my hair, he pulled it so I was forced to look up at him.
I felt him move his other hand and cried out as the vibrator in my panties turned on again.
Growling, he brought his face close to mine. “Any time you even think of calling another man ‘sir,’ I want you to remember this.”
Whimpering in response, I tried to reason with him, “What else am I supposed to call my superiors?”
Not budging, he snarled, “I don’t care. Figure it out.”
Choking out a sob, I egged him on. “Yes, Sir.”
“Fuck.” He turned off the vibrator but crushed his mouth to mine again, using the leverage of the wall to pull me into his arms. Instinct demanded that I lock my ankles around his waist as he carried me up the stairs toward our master suite. My dress rode up my legs—thank God for the slit up one thigh—and I shifted my hips, grinding into his hard-on, satisfied to hear him groan as we crossed the threshold into my bedroom.
Dropping me onto the bed, he had a dangerous look in his eye, but I wasn’t scared. He would never hurt me. I would bet my life on that.
Shaking his head as he shed his suit jacket, Preston’s voice was so calm it sent a chill down my spine. “Oh, Princess, you are going to pay for that.”
Yes, please.
