“Nah, Mom wanted something small and personal. A nice getaway from all the crazy.”

“I think it’s perfect.”

He wraps his arm around me. “Well, let me show you to your new cabin, Mrs. Killian.”

The inside has a stunning rustic meets modern vibe. The more we look around, the more I love it.

“I want to live here.” I look over at Collin when we’re done checking the place out.

“Really?”

“Well, maybe not live here, but I’d love to visit as much as we can. I know we just got here, but I feel like this might be my new favorite place.”

It reminds me of my house on campus. I really miss that place and have been tempted to move back more than once.

Don’t get me wrong, Mark’s place is nice. It’s just... big. Sometimes, a place like this is just what a girl needs.

“We can do whatever you want, my wife.” Collin wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me into his chest.

“Thank you.” I smile up at him with so much warmth and love. “For doing this for me.”

“I can’t say it wasn’t partly planned by selfish intentions on my part.” He grins. “I’ve been dying to get you alone and all to myself. You’ve been a busy girl, Sunshine.”

“I’m sorry.” I pout. “If you ever feel like I’m not giving you the attention you need, please let me know. This is all new, and I’m still learning.”

“I’m fine, baby.” He kisses the tip of my nose. “I’m just being a possessive dick.”

“When are you not?” I laugh.

“Be nice,” he growls playfully.

“Still. Thank you. With everything that's been going on, a weekend away is just what I needed.”

He sighs, putting his forehead to mine. “I wish I could make it better.”

“I know. But it’s passing.”

Since we decided to stop keeping our relationship dynamic a secret, the school has been buzzing.

I swear, these people have nothing better to do with their time than talk shit about other people.

Some of the stories I’ve heard people make up are just ridiculous.

But I knew people were going to talk. You're just never prepared to hear how cruel people can be.

“I’M DYING,” I GROAN, sucking in lungfuls of air.

“Don’t be so dramatic.” Collin laughs.

I glare up at him, where I’m bent over in pain, trying to catch my breath. “It hurts to breathe.”

“Drink some water.” He holds out a bottle of water that I take from him eagerly and chug down with greedy mouthfuls.

“Thanks.” I gasp, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.

“I think we’re going to need to start going for more walks when we get back home.” He laughs, and I shoot him another glare.

“I’m in good shape, thank you very much. It’s the fact that we’ve been fucking all day, and then when I’m a boneless mess, you slap my ass, tell me we’re taking a shower, getting dressed, and then going on a sunset hike. If I weren’t certain you loved me so much, I’d swear you were trying to kill me. Or at least leave me too tired to walk back after you abandoned me here.”
