“So you won’t kill him,” I say. “Good. You both got what you wanted …” I turn my head and look at Levi, grinding my teeth. “Now free him.”
He tilts his head, that mask still haunting my very essence. A smirk grows before he chucks my own damn knife right back at me. “Do it yourself.”
I kneel to pick up the knife, but the weight of it makes me pause. I don’t even care that I’m still naked, covered in cum and dirt. The pointy end of the knife glints in the mud, wrecking my thoughts as sharply as they wrecked me.
And instead of cutting through the ropes, I lunge at Apollo and slice into his arm as he steps back, then point the knife right underneath his chin.
If they can play this game, putting me up against Grey, then so can I.

Apollo raises his hands as the tip of the knife makes him bleed. “Hey, you didn’t show up when I told you to.”
“You swore you’d protect him against Levi,” she hisses.

She made a deal with him to keep Grey safe fromme.
To keep me from murdering him.
“I don’t fucking need your protection,” Grey growls.
“No?” Apollo snorts, looking at his tied hands and feet. “You sure about that?”
But all I can focus on is the idea—no—thefactthat he betrayed me. “You … You were going to try to stop me.”
“I helped you capture him,” Apollo responds.
“After I didn’t show up!” she yells. “Or you would have!”
Apollo shrugs. “I’m a man of my word.”
“Bullshit!” I yell, closing the gap. “What the fuck was the deal?”
Her blade swivels under his chin, her knees still weak from the destruction we caused.
“Aspen,” I growl. “Look at me!”
Finally, her eyes flick to meet my gaze, and fuck me, the fire in them is so goddamn blinding I nearly cave to my knees.
Her jaw clenches. “I gave him my body. Just like I just gave it to you. It. Meant. Nothing.”
My nose twitches and I lose all sense of control.
